About 2 years ago I purchased a La-Z-Boy recliner for my grandfather who was 87 at the time and having severe trouble getting in and out of his current chair. The one I bought was advertised as being perfect for elderly people in the same situation as the entire chair sort of lifts the person into a standing position, allowing them to grab their walker much easier.
Well in less than two months it broke for the first time. The chair was stuck in the up position and would not go down. I contacted the store I purchased it from and they were very friendly but they required the chair to be taken in for a servicing. My grandfather is 87. There is no way he can take the chair in for servicing. I went ahead and did it hoping the problem was solved. Well within a year, I took the chair in an additional 4 times. When it broke for the 6th time, I convinced them to get us a new chair.
My grandfather has had this chair for about 7 months now and just last night it had the SAME PROBLEM! It's stuck, this time in the down position.
The chair cost nearly $2,000. Each time it breaks my grandfather is without a chair. He spends the majority of his time at home, guess where, IN THE CHAIR! This thing is a piece of crap. I will never recommend it to anyone and can't believe they get away with selling what amounts to a complete lemon.
