Made up more debt than actually owed

So rude!!! Had unknown debt with Comcast, sent to collections 5 years after account was closed. Found out from stellar. Told me I owe $382.48, $192.48 from my final bill snt 30-45 days after cancellation. This amount is way to high, especially when monthly bills were only $70. The other $190 was said to be for eqipment that Comcast claims wasn't returned. It was picked up by tech. Contacted Comcast, they have a debt for 192.48 and have no idea what the $190 is for. The amount I owe is broken down $120 for cable box, $40 for modem, and 32.48 for my final bill. Stellar refuses to accept this, once I told them I had a bill from the company, suds he got defensive and said they just make up amounts or charge extra and got really defensive. Tried giving me a settlement for $308 and then told me I need to take care of my bills and pay them! The next day, I was contacted by stellar saying Comcast adjusted the total and removed the $190. But Comcast says that the $192.48 includes the eqipment, so why would they say the $190 is for eqipment when the total of the eqipment doesn't even equal TNT amount. I was yelled at and never listened to. I don't feel comfortable paying an amount that s incorrect. I am talking with Comcast daily to get this resolved so I can get the debt paid and removed from my credit report. So rude and frustrating!!!

1) Billing you for amounts not owed (deceptive collection)
2) Harassing, yelling at you, belittling you (abusive collection)
3) Failure to send "g" letter within 5 days (you never mentioned receiving any letter)
You can find a consumer attorney through www.naca.net
Make sure to mention this. Depending upon where you are in the US, this debt may be beyond the SOL and in this case, the only people who can contact you regarding the debt are the original creditors (assuming that Stellar Recovery is not an assignee) and at that, if you tell the original creditor not to call, they are reduced to writing letters which never happens. (One has to wonder if the entire US financial cabal is being managed and operated by illiterates...)
