BEWARE I called to get Dish cause I was a customer for off/on 15 years the representative told me I had an outstanding bill in collections from them.... I knew I had not hooked up dish in over 8 months so I immediately started to investigate for fear my identity had been stolen after hours, days, and numerous phone calls to credit agency's and police departments I had found out Dish allowed a lady named Diliah Johnson hook up services with my social my name is Jeremy then after that they cut off the service kept it in Diliahs name but sent it to collections under my ssn!
I have a email from Dish stating " your social security number was given out by our representative" and a letter saying my credit won't be fixed for 6 to 8 weeks and with all that dish feels they owe me no composition!!!! Don't ever trust this company with your personal info because if they mess up it will cost you more then there service is worth!!

You don't have to just put up with it..

Pull your 3 credit reports.  If there is this fraudulent "account" on any of them, then send a dispute to the CRA, disputing it as fraudulent, along with a copy of your police report.  Under FCRA/FACTA, the CRA has a limited time to "investigate", and if all they do is ask Dish if it's correct, and Dish says "yes", when they clearly know that's false, then you have the basis for a lawsuit.  You can find a consumer attorney in your state through www.naca.net

The other 2 outcomes.. replies to You don't have to just put up with it..
      1)  Dish responds timely and accurately to the CRA, notifying them that the account is fraudulent and erroneous, so it's removed.
      2)  Dish fails to respond, in which case the CRA must remove it.
While you are checking your credit reports, make sure there are not erroneous names or addresses attached to it resulting from this case of fraud. Dispute those as well.

Yes they do! Omg i called dish to ask why bill was so high and we got to talking and when i went to pay my bill he asked for the last didgets of my credit card and i repeatedly told him i did not ever in my life own a credit card in which he continued to say i had to own one to even sign up for dish i then went on to say that I am concerned that they used someone elses card to approve me just because my credit was good and they would make money!? He kept going around the fact i dont own a credit card and i kept asking then whose did they use fraudulently to sign me up. As we went in circles i finally asked to talk to a supervisor he put me on hold came back said we waived your 200 dollar bill thanks for being a customer and hung up on me! ? I called back and said i didnt care about the money i wanted to know why they practice FRAUD!?
