Trying to Bill Us for Service Not Rendered

We have received a few calls from people--all with thick Indian accents--who say that they are with US Pages website listing for business. They claim we owe them money for the listings--but can't tell us who ordered the listing or when. The last one became irate and hung up when we pressed them for more information. The number was 210-249-1659, which our caller ID says is a cell phone number. When I called it back, it went straight to a generic voicemail. SCAM.

One operating out of the Montreal area used a Pakistani call center.
The Montreal operation, Regional Yellow Pages Online (and various aliases) was sued by FTC and is subject to a federal court injunction.
Reportedly, they just moved and changed their name, and keep operating.
Be aware this type of scam uses fraudulently doctored or edited phone recordings, and makes threats of lawsuits or credit damage, none of which they do.
Also be aware that these fraudulent "accounts" might end up with a shady debt collector out of MJ, known for this type of fraudulent collection.
This type of scam is too well known to actually do anything but threaten. They are looking for naive suckers.
According to Google, your number shows no other complaints, so it may be just a bunch of independent Indian scammers, trying to run the same racket.
