Cushion peelling
Complaint

My wife and I purchased a sofa, loveseat, chair and ottoman from Rooms to Go made by these folks. The couch and love seat are peeling. We've been told it is the dye that is pealing off and needless to say, it looks terrible. Rooms To Go sent me to them, but I can't find a contact number that is helpful, not that they would be helpful. The furniture looks so rag tag now it will have to be disposed of. It is now six years old. So much for their leather.

The reason why is they are the only ones who are going to carry the better dyed/ tanned leathers
What you have my friend, along with anyone who purchases from these mass marketers is "Painted on leather"...not dyed....dyes cannot peel because it penitraites the pores of the animal skin and goes all the way through to the other side....paint lays on top..and thats what you are seeing peel......Sorry!.....the only fix is to get touch up paint as close to the same color and touch it up.
#1. Find somewhere on the piece where you can see the backside of the leather, either the bottom of the sofa/loveseat/chair or through the back…make the salesperson provide this for you…..then visually look at the backside of the leather, if it has a felt/smooth cloth or material backing, then it’s not even leather…run for the doors…..if it appears to be leather make sure the back is approximately the same color as the finished side (can be a shade or two lighter), but should at least have some of the same color as finished side….if it doesn’t, it’s a painted on finish…head for the doors.
Note: some leather are leather matched (vinyl sides and back) know which you are getting and paying for…naturally leather on all four side is preferred.
#2. Very important NEVER EVER buy the so called warranty, this is a very high profit item with big spiffs for the salesperson, but what they do not tell you is the manufacture who made the sofa will void all warranties if you apply a third part treatment of some sort on their furniture, this is why most will never get any response when they have a problem.
#3 if and when you do finally get a good piece of leather, never purchase and use abrasive cleaners of any kind, all leathers that have a clear coat finish on them will only require mild soap (dawn) and water to wipe off and clean…this does not apply to suede (bomber jacket looking leathers)…those are impossible to clean.
And #4 keep your pets off your furniture…come on people take on some responsibility for the welfare of your furniture…quit blaming the maker or seller when your animals destroy your furniture.
