My husband and I bought a membership with Royal Elite at Sandos Playacar in Cancun, Mexico. We were promised all sorts of services and amenities. Nothing about the membership that was represented to us has been true. We were scammed out of thousands of dollars and have nothing to show for it but heartache. When you contract with Royal Elite you also are enrolled with RCI and Holiday Systems International (HSI), which assists with cash exchanges for your Royal Elite weeks you don't use and other travel services, such as 50% discount hotels, airfare, etc. None of it is true...HSI advertisements are also false. I get better airfare and hotel rates by booking it myself. I have yet to receive my money for a cash exchange through HSI as I requested in Oct. 2008. So...to all you unsuspecting people who stay at any of the Sandos Resorts...WARNING!! Stay at another hotel. There are plenty to choose from in Cancun that don't have these con artist around. Stay away from the vultures that try to high pressure you into buying a membership. Don't be stupid as we were.

Royal Elite has the worst customer service ever known.. a timeshare membership shouldn’t being sold for the purpose of renting it out for a profit. it is not an investment. you should be able to do a research about the company before signing, if you are not allow to take a couple days to consider a purchase as big as a timeshare membership, you shouldn’t purchase it at all. Common Complaints:
Salesperson claims that the all-inclusive fee is per couple, but in reality it is per person per night. Clients can often book the vacation cheaper online without using their timeshare, than with booking their timeshare and paying the maintenance fees and all-inclusive fees.
Claim that they can resell a previously owned timeshare for a profit and use that money to pay for the new membership at Royal Elite.
Salesperson offers extra weeks to clients for rental purposes. They claim that the rental income makes the timeshare a good financial investment, and they can use the money in the first few years to pay off the membership.
Salesperson claims that they can trade their weeks to RCI points, and use the points to pay for 100% of an airline ticket, when in reality RCI only allows for clients to use points for 33% of the cost of the ticket.

I would like to get out of this timeshare ASAP. Lies, Lies, Lies and more lies. The deceit and fraudulence is beyond belief. It seems like everything we were told by the salesperson was a lie. Like many of the other complaints above among many others we have the same complaints. This company should not be permitted to sell another time share. I like the resort but I can get it cheaper if I did not own the timeshare. In addition the all inclusive cost per diem was supposed to be per couple. We were shocked and appalled at our first booking to learn that it was per individual. Lies, Lies, Lies and more lies. What an expensive false! We are not the only ones, these are more complaints made to Royal Elite timeshare sales tactics:

I totally agree with your complaints. We too bought into Sandos a few years ago. We have returned many times since, and admittedly really enjoyed Sandos - especially Cancun. However, we too notice all the time better deals online than what we end up paying. We have a Jr. Suite, pretty basic and while it was a lot of money for us I understand it was considered an entry level timeshare.  We were given the song and dance that Royal Elite Exchanges was the best in the world, we could exchange anywhere, would offer us better flights than anyone.

None of this has been the case whatsoever. If we want to go back to Sandos, it isn't bad. But, the main attraction was 2 weeks every year to vacation anywhere. Well, we have only been able to go back to Sandos.

I just asked to use an additional Sandos week to upgrade our room type (because we have an additional week to use that we would lose - we don't have RCI anymore). We were told no, that if we wanted a 1 bedroom that we should upgrade our contract, that it isn't fair to other buyers.  Ok, but I am asking to use an additional week - as long as there is availability. We were specifically told this was possible before buying, but of course our original sales rep is no longer there.

Extremely disappointed. We love Mexico, now wish we had bought into Palace Resorts as that appears to be the better Mexico timeshare.  Don't think we could sell this now either :(

Shame on Royal Elite, how is it possible that whenever a client is trying to do everything from their end to do payments and believe everything the sales associated told them the membership was about, and turns out its not and that everything was a Lie.. and that Royal Elite did nothing to respond their client's email or phone calls, but it is not until we start posting in the internet our stories when they want to do something about such as "opening" a new Quality Control Department. We bought our timeshare a few yrs back and was told if we ever wanted to sell down the road for any reason that they would help us out, aaaaw NO, I called them many times to get someone to assessed us on this matter and they transfer you to someone else and the line goes dead, nice yea after waiting for help for 45mins or more, and I agree with the comments above also no cheaper flights, no extra benefits, all I can see out of this is when we us I mean the suckers went in with closed minds if I new now from what I see that sales person would have had a problem with me at the point of this sale lying so an so,
