I cancelled my membership back in October of 2012 and i got a confirmation. They said the last day I can use my membership was on 11/07/2012. Since then I move to a new area and I find out that the club still taking the $39.99 from my account every month. I called a number an LA Fitness agent gave me and this other person said I had to call someone else. I beginning to think this is an impossible task. I no longer have the key chain with my tag information and I'm thinking of calling Channel 2 or 4, I know they do investigations on shady operations.I would not recommend this club, my experience was horrible, with trainers pushing their services harrassing clients and not letting customer work out in peace. I have never complain about anything, but I cant say anything nice about this establishment. They are stealing my money, picking my pocket and I cant stop them.

It's just too easy (and profitable) to "forget", and you get to keep several more months for nothing.
Calling a consumer reporter is a good strategy to get your money back.
So is filing a fraud complaint with the District Attorney or your state Attorney General.
Regardless, you would be wise to shut down your account or block your card number, just as in other cases of fraudulent charging, as that is really the only way to be sure they won't "accidentally" resume the charges later when you aren't looking.
Limit such recurring payments to credit cards, where it is easier to dispute unauthorized charges, or to block the card number with less disruption to other creditor payments.
