Mark Langdon of RAB called and made threats in order to collect on a payment that has already been made a cleared our bank for over 3 weeks ago. My inclination is that he was trying to get paid double on his collection fee cause he got stiffed by the company hiring him or he was trying to double dip and scam the payment as well. Real jerk.

...an assignee of the original creditor, what could've been going on was the opportunity for a bonus.  It's not unusual for many debt collectors, as 'employees' or 'subcontractors working on behalf of the original creditor' to take over delinquent accounts and to act as though this were the last chance to pay 'or else.'  Of course, all that 'or else' means is that the account bounces back to the original creditor only to be passed on to yet another 'subcontractor.'  These 'subcontractors' routinely get bonuses if they can get money in from the debtor.  The advantage to the original creditor with some sort of payment is that the SOL gets restarted and if the debt was running close to becoming uncollectible, well, that subcontractor just earned his keep.  What also usually happens in such a case is that the money that the subcontractor (acting as an assignee) gets does NOT go toward the debt.  So, along with whatever bonus the original creditor gives to the collector, there is also whatever money the collector can defraud a consumer.

Do you have anything in writing, regarding a financial arrangement with RAB?  If I were you, I'd look for a lawyer with a specialty in contract law who will give you a free consult.  You might need the advice.

Whole damn "industry" is corrupt.. replies to If RAB was...
when "bonuses" for fraud are common practice...

They attempted to collect money they weren't owed.
File FTC and state AG complaints.
It they do this routinely, the complaints will pile up, until they get socked like Allied Interstate and NCO.
