Incompetent, Irresponsible and Caused a Gas Leak!
Complaint
J. Garner
Country: United States
The first A&E Technician (who was actually from Sears) came out three days after we called to have our Whirlpool hot water heater repaired. He left us with a gas leak. He told us the gas smell would “go away in an hour or so if you open the windows in the house.” He left. For five hours my husband, my two small children and I were in imminent danger and didn’t even know it. (A friends of ours who works in HVAC told us that an appliance should NEVER emit the smell of gas and a technician should never leave a home if the smell of gas is present.) After shutting off our gas, we called A&E that night to inform them we had a gas leak caused by their technician. They said they would send someone out TWO DAYS later. Really? Two days? Someone should have been dispatched IMMEDIATELY.
Two days later, another technician came out and told us he needed to order more parts on a RUSH order (it's four days later and the parts only shipped today--that doesn't sounds like a rush). Currently we are scheduled for a week after the parts were ordered, BUT when the technician comes out to fix what they broke, they are not allowed to turn the gas back on because of the risk. Okay, so you leave my family with a gas leak for five hours, but you can't turn the gas back on and check to make sure it's safe? So, what will happen? He will leave, the gas company will come and if he didn't fix the problem appropriately, this will all start all over again.
NEVER buy a Whirlpool appliance and NEVER deal with this company. In our case, it could have literally cost us our lives. And no one at A&E cares.
Tomorrow we'll be filing our complaint with the BBB and only hope that many of you have done the same. We hope there is already a class action suit filed against them. We want their license revoked in the state of PA.
