This complaint is made to help other consumers who may consider dealing with GE Money Bank or Empire Today. Per an agreement through the Better Business Bureau, for overcharging and poor quality of workmanship on hardwood flooring, I was issued a $4100 refund, from Empire Today.

This transaction had taken numerous months of poor customer service, and unreturned phone calls from Empire before it was finally settled. I had orginally financed the flooring through Empire's one year interest free offer, through GE Money Bank. At the time of my refund I had paid the balance in full, but Empire said it was their policy to issue me a refund by crediting my account with G E Money Bank.

I was not in favor of this arrangement and asked how long it would take to receive my money and was told by Empire to give them 10-14 business days to receive my refund. When it did not arrive in this time frame I called GE Money Bank, whose customer service is located in India, making it very hard to communicate. The first person I talked to told me I would get my money in seven days. When this did not happen I again called G E Money Bank, and this time I was told that since it was such a large amount of money, it would take 30-40 days for my check.

I asked them why so long since it was not their large amount of money, but mine. I also said I was sure it would not be acceptable if I owed them the money and decided not to send it for 30-40 days. I asked to talk to a supervisor, who was also very hard to understand, who also said it would be 30-40 days.

I called a few days later and said I was not willing to wait the 30-40 days for my money and asked to talk to someone in the United States. She very rudely, told me she would transfer me to the US. This bank is also associated with GE products, and I was currently looking at buying a G E front loading washer and dryer, but after talking to the US customer service who treated me so rudely, I was glad that I had not made that purchase yet. I eventually got my money on their time frame but I will never again do business with Empire Today, G E Money Bank, or own any GE product and would advise everyone else to stay away from these businesses also.

I completely agree with Steve - GE MOney is among the worst unethical companies I have ever dealt with.  They lie, cheat and harrass consumers through unsolicited telephone calls, cocking a snook at citizen's privacy laws in third world countries like India.

I just found out how unethical GE Money Bank is.  I purchased a DRpower grader though Country Home Products about a year ago, approximately 6 months after the 6 month free trial, I started receiving phone calls from GE Money stating that I was behind in my payments. I stated that this was impossible, because all my monthly payments where made on time every month though my bank online.

To make a long story short.. I was told by GEMB that I was not paying off the purchase quick enough and that the had raised my payment from $26 to $84 a month.  As of today, I'm $284 behind in late fees.  It will be a cold day in hell before I give GEMB anymore money, I will be contacting my attorney to see what recourse I have to put a stop to this rip-off.  One of the reasons I purchased the DRpower grader, was the advertisement on Country Home Products website **Flexibility to make low monthly payments or pay in full.

I will never do business with GEMB again!!!

GE Money Bank is the worse Bank I have every deal with. They took my money and then took me to court after they wrote my account off.  They went into my account and took out money with my permission and cause my other bill to bounce and the bank closed my account. I have check with IRS they stated that a company cannot right of an account and sell it to retrieve the money.  They took my money and refused to send me a itemized statement.  I have requested for the past three. the  years. The crazy thing is t that he court grant them a large amount money that I do not owe. I floor was not finsihed Empire Today told me they would come out to make the corrections as of todate July 1, 2012 nothing have been done to correct my floors.  I have paid GE Money Bank over $3500.00 and they went to court and asked for $8000.00 My Account amount was only $5000.00. Because I was ill  on the day of court the Lawyer they sold account  to was granted the money. Which I have protection coverage and Money Bank Refused to send me the required documents.
