We bought a new Maytag 3000 series washer to replace a 20 year old Kenmore.  We bought a Maytag because we wanted a high quality appliance that would not stop working within a couple of years.  Shortly after the year warranty was up we started getting f71 and f70 errors on the washer.  It would lock the clothes in the washer and not respond.  My husband discovered through Internet research that the control board had gone out.  We ordered a $250 part and he replaced it.  Then again barely over a year after he replaced it, the same thing started happening again.  At $250 a year every year this was quickly.going to become an incredibly expensive washer.  I called the Maytag hotline to complain about the quality.   At the very least I asked that they pay for the cost of this third board.  I was basically told "Sorry for your luck- you should have bought an extended service agreement.". The rep said "We make a high quality product.  I'm sorry you can't tell that from your experience."  Seriously?!?  A quality product that will not work for more than a year without expensive repairs and a quality product that the company will not stand behind?  To say that I am disappointed and frustrated with Maytag and their product is putting it mildly.

It does no good to contact a Maytag rep as Melanie is suggesting. We did and they will not replace your money. The deal they offered us was to buy a new washer (the exact same one) and we would only get arounf $100 off which they called prorating it, so we would have to come up with around $400 plus they said we would have to pay $175 shipping. We originally paid $550 on our original washer and it broke after 14months.Who can afford to buy two washers within 14 months of each other. Maytag does not care and will not stand behind this piece of junk they are selling. There are hundreds of bad reviews on this washer.

Our Maytag 3000 washer stopped working 14 months after we bought the washer. The repair man came out and said the gears were completely out along with the computer board. They told us to buy the extended warranty which we did. Then they told us they were refunding the money for the extended warranty because it wasn't cost effective for them to fix it. I called Maytag and they will do NOTHING about it. The only thing they offered us was to send us a new washer that we would have to pay for again and they would take off the year we had the other one, which would be $398 plus shipping of $175 that we would have to come up with for the new washer. That comes to more than the $550 we paid originally for it. Unbelievable. We called numerous times and Maytag will not honor their product. These washers are defective. No one should have to buy a new washer 14 months later. It is still sitting and is useless.I wish we would have seen the reviews on this. We will never buy another Maytag appliance because they do not stand behind their products.
