it is very suprising to red all of these complaints for the same machine and nonthing is done about it. I have a maytag 4000 series. I  am having the same problem. loud noise. I live in a two story home and can hear the noise upstairs. had 3yr warranty on machine but maytag refuse to fix the problem. I have maytag refrigerator, maytag upright freezer, maytag matching dryer red. maytag wants to replace washer with a white or gray washer. I guess they forgot I bought a matching set of over 25oo.oo. of course to them that is change. need other appliance in my kitchen but it will not be any of whirlpool or maytag brand. all I ask maytag to do is repair my washer and let me be aware they will no longer be able to repair after this repair. they repaired it when it was under store warranty but when I renewed the warranty under whirlpool for protection hopping I had security after I had this problem before. the warranty did not matter. will be willing to join a class action lawsuit.
