816-308-5706: You have just won a free $1000 Walmart Gift Card, Enter Code "FREE" at http://dealwizard.biz/wm...

When you get there you see a page where they want your name, e-mail address and phone number.  At this point I'm thinking it was probably a scam, but since I did (not too long ago) enter a sweepstakes for a Walmart card with a number on a receipt from a Walmart store; I thought I'd check it out.  So, I gave the info it wanted, then was taken to a page where it said participation required in order to get your Walmart card, which means, of course, that you have to buy stuff.  I also think, since they wanted my name, e-mail and phone number up front; this is just a phishing scam for sales call lists at the very least and ID theft at the worst.  What can we do about this, anyone know?

This is Astrogirl1usa again, continuing my complaint of the offer of the free Walmart card; of course they notify you on the page where you give up your personal information that you are subscribing to their privacy policy, which in fact says they are going to share your information with other promoters.  But, you have to agree in order to go any further.  Once in the area where they promote their partners sales; there is a place where you can unsubscribe your cell number, but they don't say if it is only for them, or what.  They don't specify what you are unsubscribing to.  I did enter my number and immediately it said I was unsubscribed.  I suspect I wasn't unsubscribed to the extremely long list of types partners noted in their 'privacy policy'.  Just to test their unsubscription software; I put my email address in too, where it says cell number.  Guess what?   My email address, supposedly a phone number, was unsubscribed too.  Hmm..

    Thanks for the details.

Please update if you start being bombarded with solicitations, and report what type of calls or emails you start receiving.  Are they fraudulent sales pitches, or extortion cons?

File complaints with FTC and your cell phone provider, and cut off text messages if they are costing you.

it just supprises me that a company can do unto people that way and not have any countionce or              respect for its coustomers to falsly lead them to believe they are going to recieve something thair nto i just think its wrong we are the heart of buisneses by patronizing them but if we all are misled to believe in that kind of buisness there could be a boycot.not by me but it can happen.
