I have been a subscriber to Direct TV for 8 years. For the past 7 years I have subscribed to the NFL Sunday Ticket and for the past 3 years to MLB Extra Innings ( also started to buy the Hocky package last year). I am also a 3 year subscriber to their HD programming ( monthly charge of $15.00).
So, imagine my surprise when they tell me that if I want to continue to watch the ball games in "HD", that they were going to add an "additional" fee on top of what I had already paid. Kind of like:
Cheeseburger, $1.00
French Fries, $1.00
Enjoying both at the same time ?
At Direct TV that'll be $3.25
As it is, I canclled all the "extras" and now only pay for basic service with basic HD. I don't think Direct TV will miss my money but they might take notice if more people follow suit from this practice of "nickle and dime" the customer.
Thank you

    Directv bullcrap
You are paying more for hd programming than I am although I am not happy with their service.I pay ten dollars for hd programming from directv. I hate dealing with their reps, they lie and [***] and will disconnect you if the call isn't going their way. This lady was actually mad cause I paid on their website and she wasn't able to take the payment on the phone she got ticked off. She must have missed out on some spiff money cause she didn't get credit for my payment. I see they always advertise they have complete customer satisfaction but I don't see it. where does jd power get off givin them great customer satisfaction?

What is surprising is that, if you have an HD TV that has 720p, 720i or 1080i capability (all HD resolutions), but no HDMI connector (required for 1080p), DIRECTV's newer receivers are only able to supply a non-HD resolution of 480i.  This is because their newer receivers no longer provide "component video" signals to your TV set, so if you do not have a fairly new TV with an HDMI connector, you can't get High Definition pictures from DIRECTV.  Of course, the installation technicians will repeatedly lie to you and try to tell you that your TV is not really high definition, but that is just not true.  If your TV set does not have HDMI. then in order to enjoy the benefits of HD from DIRECTV, you must either purchase a DVR with "Component Video" output, or buy a new TV.  "Deception" seems to be the company motto.
