I know who these bozos are.
Nearly 10 years ago, they nearly burned up my lan line, harassing me for a debt which had been discharged with a bankruptcy over 20 years ago.  I faxed them copies of the discharge several times and, after about 9 months, contacted a lawyer and filed a complaint with my local AG.  Both the lawyer and AG contacted CSI.  And, surprise, surprise, the calls stopped.  Just like that.  (Mind you, I NEVER received anything in the mail but seeing as how this was a legitimately discharged debt, I'm not surprised.)  And, they never responded to the AG's complaint.  The lawyer tried, unsuccessfully, to get some sort of explanation from them - suing them for USBC violations exceeds the limit for small claims court and I would've needed a lawyer for civil court.  The lawyer was reluctant to initiate action given there were no material damages.  All they'd done was call, over and over again, leaving cryptic messages about what could be done to me if I didn't pay up.  We (the lawyer and myself) checked my credit score - they'd done nothing to it - and there'd never been, beside sloppy and inaccurate threats on the phone - attempts to attach anything of mine such as a bank account.

These guys are hacks.  10 hang ups in 21 days?  Make sure that this amounts to 10 complaints to your local AG.  They seem to be 'AG shy' and will run and hide when the AG complaint shows up.

Leaving voicemail threats might have been violations off FDCPA, which allows for suing in state or federal court, for both actual damages, plus statutory damages up to $1000.  False or threatening, including threats of actions they can't or don't intend to do, can constitute violations of FDCPA for deceptive, abusive, or harassing collection.

Courts can also award attorney fees if you win, so there are attorneys who take these cases on contingency.  You can find a consumer attorney in your state through www.naca.net
