Im getting several calls from simply 416. That is all that shows up on my caller ID, just 416. He says he is from Global International and when I asked what it was about he asked for my birthdate and SSN. I told him Im not giving him any information and he refused to tell me anything until I gave him that info. Anyone else getting calls from this number or company? Thank you.

The caller id information may be spoofed, unless that is an area code, and the phone system isn't forwarding the rest of the number.   "416" area code is Toronto Canada, which is home to a number of cross-border telemarketing scammers.

    Four possibilities:

    1)  Asking for DOB and SSN fits phishing scams.  Never give id information of any sort to unknown callers.  All callers are unknown.

    2)  Asking for DOB and SSN fits M.O. for some debt collectors, but due to phishing scams it is not safe to disclose any identity information to unknown callers.  Did he have an "attitude" typical of debt collectors?

    3)  Asking for DOB and SSN fits some fraudulent telemarketers engaged in bank affiliated "insurance" cramming scams.  Some banks require verification of the customer's "authorization" by obtaining identification information, since they already have bank account billing information bought from the bank.  A number of these fraudulent telemarketers have been reported to deceptively attempt to obtain such identification to run through fraudulent charges crammed onto customer accounts.  One such telemarketer has "Global" in their name.

    4)  There is a telemarketer known as GlobalReachInt known for various scams including "government grant" telemarketing from a Phillipines-based call center.  In the past, they were the highest reported Do Not Call violator on this website, but complaints against them have recently been relatively quiet.

I just received a phone call from 416 and no other numbers to my cell phone. I did not answer it because I have never seen a number come up as just three digits and I figured if it was important they would leave a message. They did not leave a voice mail and have called 3 more times in the last 20 minutes.

This company is a collection agency.  They go by the name of Global International as well as Global CC.  I too have had contact with them.  They are completely unethical.  They use threats of lawsuits and other actions to try and get money from you.  They claim to be collecting of behalf of other companies when in fact they have purchased these debts.  They are misleading and violate the FDCPA in their collections efforts.  I suggest you record any call you receive from them and contact an attorney or file a complaint with the Attorney General in your state as well as the Better Business Bureau.

I've gotten multiple daily phone calls from "Global" for about 2 wks.  They have never addressed me by name or said who their message was for, so i realized it wasn't legitimate right from the beginning.  They rant & rave & say how imperative it is for me to call them immediately to settle this matter.  They never divulge what matter or who or what it concerns. The number they tell me to call is 866=915=5210.  As a last resort, i have turned off my answering machine to see if tht will discourage them from calling again.

DO NOT arrange payments with them... I am in the middle of contacting a lawyer... they will not stop takeing the money from the account and when you call to ask y they will tell you a diffrent date... if you ask for the paperwork they say they will send it and never do... after i called the 2nd time of changed dates they changed the amount withdrawn from the acct to get past my stop payment with bank.... so please do not have anything to do with them and if you do record the phone calls

Call from 416 area code from a "Mr. Lee" claiming they would sue me for a repossessed auto some 15 years ago.  This is not a legitimate issue. It is a scam.
