Poor Quality and Company commitment to stand behind their product

I purchased a Chateau D'Ax leather sofa in August 2009 from the Fine Furniture Gallery in Kennesaw Georgia for $1200. In April, they sent a technician to install additional heavy duty straps to support the cushions that were sagging. They assured me that this fixed the problem. We even video taped the technician installing the staps. In March 2010, the sofa had the original sags and was getting worse. I contacted the store who told me I was beyond my original 1 year warranty. I was pissed. They just bought themselves time. I contacted the local Chateau D'Ax Representative Bill Smith and asked for his help. He asked that I send him a letter outlining the issue with photos. About a month later I recieve an email response back from Bill stating that neither the company or the store is going to do anything. I am beyond the warranty.
This sofa is a piece of junk and not worth the price you pay for it. If I had paid only a couple of hundred, I could understand. Actually, I have bought items that were less, but held up better than this sofa for many years.
Additionally, I was told the sofa was made in Italy. When I received the sofa, it had no label on it at all as to where it was made, like the one in the store.
My recommendation to anyone considering this company and it's dealers, should beware and steer clear.

Please could you tell me the name of the furniture line you bought for Chateau D'ax. We are looking to purchase the Ricardo sectional with power recliners from Macys but your review is leaving us unsure.
I just saw the Ricardo group tonight, but I think I'm going to have to go back to Natuzzi eventhough I like the Chateau D'ax better. good luck.
If you want something to last then don't automatically go for "The Great Deal" which Chateux D'ax is really known for. They have great styles and new they look amazing but if you sit there and say "Wow, this is a great price..like half off of what I'd normally pay for this couch" well DUHHH there is a reason.
The furniture looks amazing, is real leather, but is NOT built for normal wear and tear. If you want something that is incredible to look at AND will last you have to pay for it. I've sold Chateaux D'ax and have had customers happy..and then some not. I ALWAYS explain the durability of the product and will try and steer families or people who spend a lot of time at home to more reasonable models for them, leaving the Chateux D'ax to singles who have little cash, rarely at home but want something great looking when they have parties, realtors wanting to stage out homes or people like that.
The only customers who complain are the ones that won't listen and have watched wayyyy to much HGTV or have a grudge against the furniture industry "The markup is like 700 percent, I ain't paying that!!" and expect to get a brand new, heirloom quality, hand tied and tufted sofa for anything less than $2500. In a nutshell, they have zero comprehension of reality, the costs of making 'good' furniture and expect to pay IKEA prices but get the quality of Eisenhower sofas.
Made in Dayton, TN.
You can easy compare them to Natuzzi in a way of operations and quality of product. In my opinion when you purchase a product that is made in northern Italy you will get a better deal in terms of quality and price from Chateau D'Ax than Natuzzi.
If you are planing to buy a leather 3 PC set in a range of $4,000-$6,000 retail value Chateau D'Ax will be a winner.
As an end client it is very difficult to understand what product are you purchasing and from who.Every model produced, could be feet to the retailer specific needs like : price , color, feel or design .
It is important to understand when you are buying from a large retailer their point of view is very simple : What is the net profit at the end of the year.
In this case, you as an end user loose . You might get a better leather on places you use and cheap leather quality all over. In the market today There are many cheap leathers so you actually not getting a good quality product. Now, if you paid around $1,400 - 1600 for a leather sofa you could find similar product a little cheaper but, you didn't overpaid and at list in your case you have Macy's that their customer service should take care of it somehow.
The Only thing I would recommend you for your next purchase is get the Chateau D'Ax product that cost only about 20% more, made in Northen Italy,Full grain leather all around the product and choose the higher grade. You will be safe for many years to come.
Get it in the higher end stores like bloomingdales or some furniture boutique stores.
Hope it is helpful
