I purchased a Chateau D'Ax leather sofa in August 2009 from the Fine Furniture Gallery in Kennesaw Georgia for $1200. In April, they sent a technician to install additional heavy duty straps to support the cushions that were sagging. They assured me that this fixed the problem. We even video taped the technician installing the staps. In March 2010, the sofa had the original sags and was getting worse. I contacted the store who told me I was beyond my original 1 year warranty. I was pissed. They just bought themselves time. I contacted the local Chateau D'Ax Representative Bill Smith and asked for his help. He asked that I send him a letter outlining the issue with photos. About a month later I recieve an email response back from Bill stating that neither the company or the store is going to do anything. I am beyond the warranty.

This sofa is a piece of junk and not worth the price you pay for it. If I had paid only a couple of hundred, I could understand. Actually, I have bought items that were less, but held up better than this sofa for many years.

Additionally, I was told the sofa was made in Italy. When I received the sofa, it had no label on it at all as to where it was made, like the one in the store.

My recommendation to anyone considering this company and it's dealers, should beware and steer clear.

Furniture is basically - you get what you pay for.  That store knows the furniture was made in China - why else would they remove the label?  Everyone always falls for the "Italian Leather" line from salespeople.  Best advise I can give is by locally made furniture.  There is a company in Atlanta that makes their own leather furniture with a much better quality and a lifetime warranty.

Something to think about...  each company has a specific manufacturing warranty agreement with it's distributors.  Macy's for Chateau d'ax is 3 years on the frame and 3 years on the support such as webbing.  Cushion sagging is usually attributed to the support system holding up the cushions.  Cushion breaking down are not usually the real issue. I would have asked the technicians to check the support system.

Also bought a Chateau D'ax from Macy.  What a piece of crap. The cushions already sagging and I have only owned it for three years. Though because it was a product being sold through Macy's it would be pretty reliable but I guess buyer beware. I would never buy a sofa from this company again. Wish I did more research and found this site before making purchase!

thats right Micheal, i think that company is Leather Creations and yes its more than  $1200 for a sofa, however in 10 years you be thankful that the extra money was spent on quality american made furniture!

I also purchased Chateau D'Ax Leather Furniture.  The sofa was purchased less than 3 years ago, we have never been happy with the sofa.  The cushions are sagging, the sofa looks like it is 10 years old.  I had a much cheaper sofa before I purchased Chateau D'Ax, it held up for many years.  Do not puchase furniture from Chateau D'Ax.

      Hi,

Please could you tell me the name of the furniture line you bought for Chateau D'ax.  We are looking to purchase the Ricardo sectional with power recliners from Macys but your review is leaving us unsure.

I'm looking at purchasing the same Ricardo group.  Macy's has a great price on it, but people are having so many issues with Chateau D'ax, even without the automated seats....I can only imagine what happens if I shell out several thousand only to have broken moters.  Macy's does have insurance, it is through another very unreputable third party group.
I just saw the Ricardo group tonight, but I think I'm going to have to go back to Natuzzi eventhough I like the Chateau D'ax better.  good luck.

I did purchase the Ricardo sectional and matching power chair. we had it over the weekend and we loved the comfort of it, can' t find another more comfortable  BUT the set looks like it is not going to hold up. the seats already show dimpling or saging, and  the arms have dented in already where the arms or elbows sit..the top of the cushions do not appear to have enought stuffing so they are hollow on the corners. I paid a good $5,100.00 for the set, and I am returing it all back to Macys before I go throught what every one else has posted about.  When it arrived off the Macys truck it was hot outside around 85' and the heat must of made the leather stick to each other on the arm of the loveseat where the button is, which is way to far down the side of the arm to reach easily, but the leather color completly came off onto each other and now there is no color( congnac) is off and it looks like cream color speckles all down the inside of the arm.  I have owned leather furniture for 45 yrs. and never had this happen. I'm going to do myself a favor and return the set before I go through any more troubles. It's not Macys fault, its the Chateau de ax,because they are made in China. too bad, Because I have never had a more comfortable set ever!!! It pains me to sendit back, but better now then later and eat the 15% re-stocking costs..that would be around 400.00. down the drain.

I purchased the RICARDO, Loved the comfort of it, But it is not worth the money if it is not going to hold up. and I have already seen signs of that just in 4 days..so I will be returning the set and start looking al lover again...hate this process. We have short legs and this was like made for us. we loved it so much in the store and home until we started to see signs of use and its only been a few days. I purchased the "don't worry plan" too ( 400) more $$ s but the post show other people have had the same issues.  And that Macys does not honor the wear or color issues... I am not up to having any trouble with a company or the furniture..so back it goes. with sad regret that it was so comfortable but not a good quality..the color even is off the inside of the arm where the control button is. Which I feel is way to far down the arm to use comfortibly. hope this helps anyone thinking of buying this georgeous ,most comfortable set I have ever found, ( for us)..

You get what you pay for.

If you want something to last then don't automatically go for "The Great Deal" which Chateux D'ax is really known for.  They have great styles and new they look amazing but if you sit there and say "Wow, this is a great price..like half off of what I'd normally pay for this couch" well DUHHH there is a reason.

The furniture looks amazing, is real leather, but is NOT built for normal wear and tear.  If you want something that is incredible to look at AND will last you have to pay for it.  I've sold Chateaux D'ax and have had customers happy..and then some not.  I ALWAYS explain the durability of the product and will try and steer families or people who spend a lot of time at home to more reasonable models for them, leaving the Chateux D'ax to singles who have little cash, rarely at home but want something great looking when they have parties, realtors wanting to stage out homes or people like that.

The only customers who complain are the ones that won't listen and have watched wayyyy to much HGTV or have a grudge against the furniture industry "The markup is like 700 percent, I ain't paying that!!" and expect to get a brand new, heirloom quality, hand tied and tufted sofa for anything less than $2500.  In a nutshell, they have zero comprehension of reality, the costs of making 'good' furniture and expect to pay IKEA prices but get the quality of Eisenhower sofas.

I wish YOU had been my sales person.  I asked questions, but obviously, not the right ones.  He told me all leather was "split" when I asked the question about "full grain" or "split".  We've had our "beautiful" leather loveseat for only two years.

Chateau D'Ax is a very big furniture company that produce their goods in many different countries all over the world. They will produce anything for you, starting with a low end product to top of the line modern contemporary heavy leather production that retailed in some chain or boutique stores for over $15,000 for a sofa love and chair.

You can easy compare them to Natuzzi in a way of operations and quality of product. In my opinion when you purchase a product that is made in northern Italy you will get a better deal in terms of quality and price from Chateau D'Ax than Natuzzi.
If you are planing to buy a leather 3 PC set in a range of $4,000-$6,000 retail value Chateau D'Ax will be a winner.

As an end client it is very difficult to understand what product are you purchasing and from who.Every model produced, could be feet to the retailer specific needs like : price , color, feel or design .
It is important to understand when you are buying from a large retailer their point of view is very simple : What is the net profit at the end of the year.
In this case, you as an end user loose . You might get a better leather on places you use and cheap leather quality all over. In the market today There are many cheap leathers so you actually not getting a good quality product. Now, if you paid around $1,400 - 1600 for a leather sofa you could find similar product a little cheaper but, you didn't overpaid and at list in your case you have Macy's that their customer service should take care of it somehow.
The Only thing I would recommend you for your next purchase is get the Chateau D'Ax product that cost only about 20% more, made in Northen Italy,Full grain leather all around the product and choose the higher grade. You will be safe for many years to come.
Get it in the higher end stores like bloomingdales or some furniture boutique stores.

    Hope it is helpful

We purchased two sofas, an ottoman and a side chair of Chateuax D'Ax from Macys 5 years ago and paid almost $3000 for the set. The middle cushion on both sofas is splitting and looks awful. The leather is thin and cheap. I am also noticing splitting on the ottoman and chair. What a piece of junk ! What a disappointment !! DO NOT BUY THIS FURNITURE !!!!!

We have a Chateau D'Ax sofa leathere and have owned it for 5 years and I have to tell you we have not had any problems with it.  It is in excellent condition.  With my teenagers and grandkids I cannot complain. I am sad to say that since we had to enlarge our kitchen by 5 feet into the den which is where we watch TV on this couch, it is now oversized for the space. So we are actually selling it on Craiglist for 575.00.  This couch has more than surpased the money we paid for it.  Hate to see it go but we had to settle for smaller scale sofa for the space now. It has also cleaned well with the sofa kit for leather cleaner that we purchased.  I have taken good care of it and it shows.

I bought a Chateau D'Ax leather sectional at Nebraska Furniture Mart for around $3,000. I live alone and have no pets. I own my own business, so I'm not home a lot. I bought it less than a year ago, and it still looks great, but it is complete CRAP. There are 6 pieces plus an ottoman that comprise the sectional. I usually sit on 3 of the pieces, depending on whether I'm watching TV, reading, etc. Those three cushions are so flat it's now like sitting on wood. I have a beautifully decorated home, and now I have started putting pieces of memory foam ON TOP of the cushions to actually be able to use them. Nebraska Furniture Mart came and looked and said the cores were breaking down. Chateau D'Ax said it's normal wear, so they won't do anything. Neither will Nebraska FM, so I'm out $3,000 for unusable furniture I've had less than a year. I've spent around $15,000 at Nebraska FM, but I have to say this is my last purchase from them, after I repeatedly asked and was assured this was very high quality furniture. It was a floor model, so the price had been reduced. As for Chateau D'Ax, those people should pay criminally for what they do. I wish I had read these reviews prior to my purchase. NE FM just said "all manufacturers get complaints, and all cushions break down these days. This is normal." I'm sorry, if it's normal for furniture to break down within a year, then why are you selling it?
