I purchased a Chateau D'Ax leather sofa in August 2009 from the Fine Furniture Gallery in Kennesaw Georgia for $1200. In April, they sent a technician to install additional heavy duty straps to support the cushions that were sagging. They assured me that this fixed the problem. We even video taped the technician installing the staps. In March 2010, the sofa had the original sags and was getting worse. I contacted the store who told me I was beyond my original 1 year warranty. I was pissed. They just bought themselves time. I contacted the local Chateau D'Ax Representative Bill Smith and asked for his help. He asked that I send him a letter outlining the issue with photos. About a month later I recieve an email response back from Bill stating that neither the company or the store is going to do anything. I am beyond the warranty.

This sofa is a piece of junk and not worth the price you pay for it. If I had paid only a couple of hundred, I could understand. Actually, I have bought items that were less, but held up better than this sofa for many years.

Additionally, I was told the sofa was made in Italy. When I received the sofa, it had no label on it at all as to where it was made, like the one in the store.

My recommendation to anyone considering this company and it's dealers, should beware and steer clear.

I just purchased this set from Macy's. In the store it looks great.  When I received the set one side of the sofa was a totally different color from the rest.  I was given a new part of the sectional, but now it looks completely from different from the other part of the sectional.

I just called them and see what they come up with.  I wish I had read these complants before I purchased the set.

Any suggestions as to what I should do?.  It has only been two weeks that I purchased it.

I'm so glad that I read these reviews.  I saw a Chateau D'Ax chair @ Macy's today and I was going to buy two of them.  However, after reading these reviews, I've changed my mind!  thank you!

I almost bought this at Bernie & Phyls, but thanks to these posts I will not purchase the set that looked good, but not quality made.

Was close to buying the latest Bloomingdale's special deal on CD sectional, but first read these reviews.  Experience with web reviews has taught me that when reviews are mixed or exaggerated in tone, then they are often not to be trusted. But when they are consistently pos or neg and from people who take the time to clearly explain their opinion or experience with a product, then they most likely are true and accurate.  Reading the poor reviews of CD furniture above I can only say "thanks for your reviews - you saved me $5 grand". p.s. Macy's and Bloomingdale's are the same company, using the same product sources, so no reason to believe the Bloomingdale's product is any different in quality.

I purchased a Sofa from Leatherworld about 5 years ago - The center cushion - that is hardly ever sat on is peeling - the "leather" is really vinyl - Now the store is out of business and I have a couch that was not inexpensive that is looking very sad - any ideas?

Just bought a Chateau D'AX leather sofa and loveseat (recliners) from Macy's. When they were delivered the power cods were missing. They were supposed to be sent separately, but through a comedy of errors were sent to a neighbors house. The [***] neighbor didn't speak much English and kept the package for five days until we figured it out and retrieved it. Meanwhile we complained to Macy's, Neshaminy Mall, PA. Our salesman, BEN, was excellent. He reported the problem and it went all the way to the top. We got many calls from customer service and Macy's until the problem was quickly resolved. A repair guy was sent out from N.Y, with extra parts the day after we reported the problem.  Meanwhile we had gotten the parts from [***] neighbor. Macy's gave us a $50 gift certificate for our trouble.

Most people write on this site with negative comments . Mine is positive. I don't know what the future will hold but I got a 7 year warranty.

As I've read these reviews I've been totally surprised. I don't know if things have changed or not, but I bought a pair of Chateau D'ax  tapestry armchairs about twenty years ago, and have used them ever since. Now I will say that I don't have children and most of my guests have always been adult, But I used the chairs in the living room for many years and then at the head and foot of my dining table as well. They served me beautifully through countless holiday dinners, parties and the like with absolutely no complaints. As a matter of fact, they way that I found this site was that I was looking for an additional pair that I might be able to put with my existing pair in yet another configuration. Thing spring assembly and support in my chairs is as strong as it ever was and I'm 6'3" tall and have weighed in at close to 300lbs. before!
Perhaps the quality has suffered over the years, or the merchants are now selling knock offs. I noticed that one review said that there were no labels on the furniture. Mine still have the original Chateau D'ax made in Italy labels....

BEWARE DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND. it had no tags so i called the store to see who made it. they should be ashamed to put their name on it.

I also purchased a leather couch from Macy's from Chauteau D'Ax almost 7 years ago. We paid $2100+ for it and IT IS CRAP. The frame gave out and neither Macy's nor Chauteau will stand behind their sale. We seldom use this couch as it is in the formal living room and we treat our furniture very well. It has never been moved. Will never buy another one of their products. BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND is the right advice.

consistently bad reviews have scared me away. How about Natuzzi for better
    quality??

Bought a CD loveseat and LOVE it so much we ordered the chair. Real leather is notion hard to spot. We also have Natuzzi and am not nearly as impressed with that as I am the CD.

We purchased a Chateau d'Ax sofa and foot stool in 2008. One night when my entire family was sitting in it, it burst into flame, killing all of us, including myself. Afterwards, the sofa was a mess and we were all charred beyond recognition. At the funeral, the receiving home forgot to order folding chairs, and instead wheeled in Chateau d'Ax sofas for everyone to sit in. They all died as well. In all, Chateau d'Ax furniture has killed over 3500 people. It was comfortable, though.

We purchased a Chateau D'ax sectional about 10 years ago and it is in our family room.  It gets used every day and still looks great.  I would not hesitate to buy another one.  Every manufacture has its problems but one this large has very few complaints compared to the amount of furniture they sell.  I fine most the time people who have no problems rarely write in with comments.  Too bad.

Thanks for the posts. I was ready to buy the 3 piece Alden collection for our family room from Raymour and Flanigan. It paid off to do the research on the Net. I'll stay away from the CD brand.
