Poor Quality and Company commitment to stand behind their product

I purchased a Chateau D'Ax leather sofa in August 2009 from the Fine Furniture Gallery in Kennesaw Georgia for $1200. In April, they sent a technician to install additional heavy duty straps to support the cushions that were sagging. They assured me that this fixed the problem. We even video taped the technician installing the staps. In March 2010, the sofa had the original sags and was getting worse. I contacted the store who told me I was beyond my original 1 year warranty. I was pissed. They just bought themselves time. I contacted the local Chateau D'Ax Representative Bill Smith and asked for his help. He asked that I send him a letter outlining the issue with photos. About a month later I recieve an email response back from Bill stating that neither the company or the store is going to do anything. I am beyond the warranty.
This sofa is a piece of junk and not worth the price you pay for it. If I had paid only a couple of hundred, I could understand. Actually, I have bought items that were less, but held up better than this sofa for many years.
Additionally, I was told the sofa was made in Italy. When I received the sofa, it had no label on it at all as to where it was made, like the one in the store.
My recommendation to anyone considering this company and it's dealers, should beware and steer clear.

Anyone have experience with this sofa? with the power recliner mechanism? We experienced a power recliner sofa at Scandanavian Designs, ad the mechanism seemed much smoother. Unfortunately, the loveseat looks like 2 recliners grafted together and much smaller, too. The look of the "Gino" is much better! A++ for design, but how about functionality and durability?
Thanks for any experiences and comments!
The Macy's (exclusive) Gino is a good size, comfortable enough (could use more lower back support), does not have "chunky" arms, and all in all looks quite nice and fits in the space we have for it.
The Gino was delivered 2 weeks ago (first week of August, 2013) and it REALLY smells AWFUL.. like leather and chemicals.. even after 2 weeks. There is plenty of ventilation.. 3 doorways and open windows. Even so, I can smell it from the doorway. Sitting on it for any length of time becomes very unpleasant. The smell never dissapates, even increases in intensity over time sitting on it.
LUCKILY I called Customer Service about the strong odor on the 4th day post delivery. Apparently the buyer has 3 days to contact them regarding any problem or else there is a 15% restocking fee if it is returned or even exchanged. The Macy's rep was willing to slip this problem in as an exchange without the restocking fee. There were none available to exchange until mid- September. So, in the meantime, she thought that perhaps it would stop smelling by then (this will be 5 weeks from delivery date.) If all is good, I can cancel the exchange. I also have the "NO WORRIES" protection plan, but apparently smell is not included in the mechanism or leather damage replacement.
My husband worked in a furniture store selling mid-range priced leather sofas and chairs. He said that when leather is not properly tanned and cured and if it is rushed to craft furniture, this can happen. He explained also that Italian companies started contracting with China to manufacture furniture per Italian designs (e.g. Natuzzi) even tho the parent company in Italy retained the name, these pieces are manufactured in China...
Anyone have this problem with their Gino leather furniture... in particular the Gino loveseat? Would love to hear other experiences..positive or negative!
Every thing I read about Chateu D'ax does not give me a good feeling.
We are plannig to buy this weekend if I get positve feedback,
Thanks for everyones help in advance,
Macy's wanted to get rid of this thing FAST, and I went along with it. 5 years later, the middle cushion is cracked and peeling like scabs off my toes. The other 2 cushions are ok but starting to go. (No sunlight exposure btw, it's far from windows)
With TLC, treatment, slipcovers, the cushions would have lasted a decade but no more than that, methinks.
The frame, however, is great! Strong, heavy, sturdy, an absolute [***] of a time to haul into a truck. A reminder that cheap sofas today you can kick away like an office chair. Not a Chateau D'Ax, chinese or not
I plan to re-upholster the 3 bad cushions with beige or brown microfiber and call it good. For those with worse conditions, consider cutting out all cushions, replace with brand new microfiber seat cushions with 4 large decorative pillows for backing, red/grey/brown/etc mix colors. Get creative!
THE BIGGEST AND THE BEST ...
FINALLY...ONE FINE PERSON....TO TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS VERY GOOD CO.
