Direct Buy Scammers

In March 2007 my spouse & I made a DB appointment to hear their pitch. We never saw anyone else come in the front door before the sales pitch started. But once in the sales-pressure room, there were about 7 or 8 couples already seated. Where did they come from?? The smarty-pants talker who ran the show & talked during the videos, used a sales method of "how could anyone be so stupid to pass this up." We were told the membership price was $7,000 and we had to sign today or lose out for life. We hated the whole time spent there. Then a young woman took charge of us - each couple had a herder also. She gave us a contract, but I already knew this wasn't for us. The only thing on display was part of a mocked-up kitchen and dozens of catalogs. One of the sales guys came over to my "herder" & excitedly asked where some sales form was for his couple to sign. I saw this as a fake ruse to try to get us pulled into the buy-now craziness. My spouse wanted out of there fast - he was feeling ill and needed to have something to eat. They tried to block our exit. Then my husband loudly stated that he had diabetes and was ill and we had to leave right away. I thought I might have to call the police, but they decided to let us leave. The offer was given that we could come back tomorrow, since my spouse was ill. In the weeks and months afterward, they called us repeatedly to come back in. After thinking about this horrible experience, I'm convinced that the other "couples" were seat-filler employees trained to act gung-ho about joining the club. I have warned everyone I know about these crooks. I can't believe they are still in business.
