A renewal notice was sent to me and I chose not to renew and that is my final answer. Do not send any of your mail to my address.

Not paying for something I did not request. Is this a joke?

Contact the publisher directly and tell them you did not renew, so they should cancel.  Do so in writing.  They will generally do so on request.

The various Hearst publications use a company called Sunrise Credit to "retain" customers.  They straddle the fence between being a "subscription sales" and a "collection agency".  Their renewal solicitations are often written deceptively, implying you "owe" the renewal amount, that the account is "in collection", etc, when you can still just cancel owing nothing.  Rather shady business practice.

If you have further problems after sending written notice of cancellation, file a BBB complaint or contact your Attorney General, including a copy of your cancellation/non-renewal letter.  They will generally back off when challenged.

I received a collection notice as well from this company Sunrise Credit, but I never received any Oprah magazines!  Not sure why I would have a collection notice?  HELP!!

Some of these "subscriptions" may be the result of people signing up for "free trial magazines", that they try to convert to a paid subscription.

Others might be the result of someone sending in a card or applying, sometimes as a prank or for harassment.  There is NO verification through this system that they are who they claim, but they don't actually send any magazines until the subscriber actually pays, so they send these letters to close the deal.

    Other bogus subscriptions?  Who knows.

Don't sweat it.  Sunrise sends out these collection letters all the time, trying to rope consumers into paying for unordered subscriptions.  They are half marketer and half debt collector, so they deliberately blurr the boundary to make a "sale".

See above.  Just notify the publisher you didn't subscribe, and the debt collector that you dispute the alleged debt.  They generally don't push the matter, but if they do, you have covered your bases in case of FDCPA violations.

My mother passed away almost 2 years ago, I did not renew any of her subscriptions.  The Oprah Magazine is the only one that sent an credit and collections notice along with and invoice for a renewal.  Naturally there is no contact information on the notice.  This upset my 83 year old dad who is still mourning the loss of my mom.  These people need to be stopped!
