I received what appeared to be a legitimate invoice then it dawned on me, I'd just paid Verizon less than two weeks ago. When I started looking at the bill I realized it was extremely long (11/12 pages) AND, it had FIVE numbers attached to it and they all had an area code out of Texas! (I live in Virginia). The only thing that was "mine" was my name and address! I contacted Verizon and they confirmed fraud. I contacted a credit bureau and was not able to obtain my credit report through the internet because their was an "error" on my info. SO, had to write the credit bureau, send a photocopy of my SSN card and driver's license, and now am patiently awaiting their response. What I THINK might've happened is that someone on the inside at Verizon opened the account, snatched five free phones, and ran!

You may also need to file an id theft dispute through any credit reporting agencies showing information associated with this account. Include a copy of the police report with those disputes as well.
Send all disputes certified return receipt requested, and keep copies of all communications, along with the return receipts.
You should also place a fraud alert on your credit reports.
