Harassing Phone Calls
Complaint

We have received two phone calls regarding an outstanding balance we have with Regional Yellow Pages Online. They have my voice saying "Yes" in agreement with online advertising. It's very obvious that it is a manipulated phone conversation. I checked online and found SEVERAL complaints about this pretend company harassing and threatening people.
I just recieved the second phone call today in which I confronted "Lisa" on the other line. She told me I was "stupid" and "being an idiot". She also told me to read the bible, since I work for a church.
When they are confronted they have nothing more to say but things like above and then hang up and fax over an invoice. How do I stop the harassing phone calls?

Like most of these "business directory" scams, they prey on small businesses, using deceptive calls claiming to "verify your information" to obtain recordings that they doctor, edit, or misrepresent as an "agreement" to pay for their "services". Most complaints against them indicate the businesses agreed to no such payment, and that their claims are entirely fraudulent.
Some have reported that the person they claim "agreed" was not even at the company at the time they claim they agreed, in one case they had been dead for several years. They may try to catch some employee who doesn't normally handle advertising, and imply that they already have an advertising agreement for which they are "just verifying information". Most complaints indicate there was never any disclosure of any terms.
Since that alone doesn't get them paid, they are then reported to engage in threats and harassment, either directly, or through a New Jersey based debt collector.
In addition to small businesses, complaints have been posted from several schools, as well as several churches.
Since they are well known to be engaged in fraudulent telemarketing, and have been sued or reached settlements with FTC as well as several state Attorneys General, file fraud complaints with FTC and your state Attorney General, and at www.ic3.gov.
It is common for such scams to send their "invoices" by fax, and make their threats by phone, perhaps to avoid mail fraud charges. If you receive a fraudulent invoice or collection letter in the mail, also file a mail fraud complaint with the U.S. Postal Inspector.
After filing written fraud complaints, if you receive any further harassment, notify them that their bill is fraudulent and that you have reported them to FTC and your state Attorney General. Then give FTC a call to discuss the matter.
normally the line is dead, but when I talked to the operator it was on line yellow pages. I told them to stop harrassing me and leave me the f**k
alone!
They called me back, saying that since I abused him, he would give me another 100calls.
Is there anything I can do?
