That call has all the earmarkings of a criminal scam.

    Contact the police.

No one knows that the person on the other end of the phone is sick and it just seems to be the American Way to just claim everything is a scam just because you owe money and dont want to pay it.

Calling and telling someone that if they don't "pay within 1 hour" they will "go to jail" is not just deceptive it is a deliberate and illegal threat.  No one calling you has the power to "put you in jail" without a criminal court proceeding, and that cannot happen "within 1 hour".

Making illegal threats is an indicator of a scam or con, as it attempts to prevent the target from verifying whether any amount demanded is actually due, or whether the caller has any right to demand it.  Such statements are basically a form of "assault", as they threaten physical harm.

Why is it, "Dave", that you think people should accept criminal behavior as a normal business practice?

The other indication that this is a con, is that the targets of the call used to make the threat were the parents, not the son.  The caller was trying to extort money from the parents "to keep their son out of jail".

There is no legitimate reason for any creditor or debt collector to be discussing details of some alleged debt with third parties, let alone making threats in that discussion.  Such "discussions" are not "locating a debtor", by any legitimate definition of that phrase.
