Trying to make me pay for a broken radiator or hose

I rented a Dodge Journey on a Wednesday and left Mississippi for El Paso TX. The following week on my way back the vehicle broke down out in the desert. I opened the hood and there was no water in the radiator. We were a mile from the Mexico border. I called enterprise at 11am and it took them unt until 3 pm pick us up. I had my 3 year old granddaughter and 13 year old daughter with us. My high risk pregnant daughter in law was with me as well. When the tow truck driver arrived he said that they had just called him a hour earlier. The enterprise company in Mississippi were very nice and only charged me half of my bill. Now two weeks later they want a claim against my insurance company to pay for the repairs to the vehicle. I don’t think I should be responsible for a broken radiator on a car that only had 700 miles on it when I got it. What can I do?
