HSN and IRobot Protection Plan
Complaint

Country: United States
This complaint is about HSN and their insurance affiliate which provides the HSN Protection Plan and the Repair Company Professional Satellite Repair Inc.
I purchased a Roomba from the home Shopping Network (HSN) two years ago. Along with the purchase, I also invested in the protection plan insurance. Recently, my Roomba went down a flight of stairs as a result (in my opinion) of a faulty sensor. I called the protection plan people and they had me shipit to the Professional Satellite Repair (PSR) Inc for repairs. Three days later I received my Roomba and put it to work only to find it at the bottom of the stairs again.
I called PSR and asked for a detail listing of the repairs. I was informed that no repairs were conducted and that only the filters had been replaced. Dissatisfied with this answer, I then called the protection plan people to enquire and complain about the service rendered by PSR. To my surprise I was informed that this circumstance was not covered under my warranty. Now, IRobot advertises that the Roomba has sensors which prevent it from going over a flight of stairs, so I would call this a defect in workmanship. However, the protection plan people called this accidental damage and used the accidental damage clause as an excuse not to repair the item in question.
I have never used my protection plan and always thought I was covered. The reality of the situation is that I spent #34.95 for a worthless piece of paper that in reality has so many loop-holes I may never see my Roomba repaired. The cost of the Roomba was $239.90 plus the $34.95 for the protection plan.
I called the following in an attempt to get this issue resolved and spoke to supervisors regarding this problem.
