Collection Calls

Complaint

A representative from Northland called my home today.

He was trying to reach my son, who does not live with us.  Our phone number was given to the collection agencies by his vindictive wife.

I have told the various agencies that are trying to collect the debts including this firm several times in the past that he doesn't live with us, the number isn't his and they have no right to continue harassing us.

The number may, or may not, have been provided by his wife.  They might also have skip-traced past addresses and linked it to your number.

If you don't want them to call you, sent them a letter, certified return receipt requested, requesting that they cease communications with you, including specifically calling you.

If they fail to honor your request, file complaints with the Minnesota Attorney General.  If it continues, you might sue them for violations of FDCPA.

I am constantly receiving collection calls from several companies and repeat calls from the same company for a person that I have never known, has never lived at my address (I have lived here for 30 years), is not nor never has been a relative.  We get the calls because my Mother lives with me and her phone number listing is B. Vance.  Therefore they keep calling for Billy Vance.  My Mother is 80 and rushes to answer the phone. I worry she will get hurt aside from the fact that these people call everyday and at 8am even on the weekends.  I have repeatedly informed these companies that I do not nor did I ever know a Billy Vance and to stop calling.  They do not and they are the same telephone numbers coming up on the caller I.D. so I know they are repeats.

My question is does anyone know how I can report them or stop them from calling.  I have been patient, but this has been going on for over a year and I am getting furious and frustrated now.  I have started saving the numbers and want to report them to stop calling this number.

Does anyone have any experience with this and can help me, PLEEEEEAAAASSSSEEE.

You are concerned that their continued harassment, after you have informed them they are contacting the wrong party, may either result in their taking financial advantage of your mother, or even result in injury to her due to her age.

Contact your local District Attorney.  They may be crossing over into violations of state elder abuse laws.  Patience with these goons will only get you hurt.
