Charged $169.95 instead of 99cents trial---for "Mbrship"
Complaint
Marian E. May
Country: United States
The same day I "ordered" the trial product for 99 cents... I sent an e-mail stating that I did NOT want the membership. Today I received my credit card statement charging $169.95 for Celebrity Teeth Membership. I called 1-877-503-1282 to request my money refunded and was passed along to five "supervisors" in CYPRUS, GREECE, and everyone read from the same script: If I did not want the mbrship I was supposed to call their number within 14 days. They do NOT recognize/accept e-mails!!!! Of course they say they cannot refund my money; blah; blah; blah. These people are crooks. I can't pay my electric bill with tooth whitener!!!! If they were truly "located" in USA, perhaps I could complain to the BBB, but what recourse do I have????? None! according to them. How many other "fools" like me have been billed for $169.95???? I wish someone could do something to STOP these people! AND..... the product doesn't even WORK!!!!

Similar complaint, also "international". Not sure if this is the same scammers, but they both fit a common "health product trial offer" scam pattern.

There have been other notorious "health product" cramming scams run through Cyprus, notably a so-called "pharmacy card" cramming scam several years ago. They may set up the scam to transfer the money overseas to interfere with prosecution.
VISA recently shut down access to their system by about 100 scam companies running similar cramming scams.
Immediately contact your bank to file a fraud dispute for the crammed charge, and close and block the account or card number, since your account information is in the hands of scammers. File a credit card fraud complaint with your local police, and provide a copy of your police complaint and a fraud affidavit to your bank. Your bank should be able to reverse fraudulent charges, but you have to dispute within 60 days of the statement date of the statement showing the disputed charge to fit within the dispute window of FCBA.
Both VISA and MasterCard have "no liability for unauthorized charges" policies, but they also require prompt notification (whthin 60 days).
Where is the product being shipped from? Are they using a U.S. or Canadian "fulfillment house", or is it being imported? Is it being shipped via mail? Even if they are shipping via common carrier other than U.S. Mail, you can file a mail fraud complaint with the U.S. Postal Inspector. Enough complaints, and they may block their access to U.S. Mail, or if it is coming from outside the country, they can cut off their ability to import.
If the product is harmful, file a complaint with FDA.

Compare BBB's address, supposedly in Smyrna GA, with complaintsboard addresses in Cyprus. BBB appears to have mangled their address making it appear to be a U.S. address.
