Based on the repeated complaints about the cushions on England's furniture, I did some research. I contacted Dr. Furniture, an local independent furniture repair company and asked about furniture cushions in general and their experience with England's products specifically. First, the man who has done repairs for twenty years said cushions are a common complaint in the industry today. All mid priced furniture lines are not the same quality of 20 years ago. Second, England is properly priced for the quality. Third, the Barcalounger chair we called about to have a mechanical noise addressed after 16 years of very heavy use is several tiers about England and its competitors. We should not expect the same quality as were are used to.
I also sent four questions to Philip Arnold of England Furniture. I emailed the questions Friday night and received a comprehensive before 11 am Monday. The print out of his response fills 8 1/2x11. A man spending his day addressing endless complaints would never have the time to answer a potential customer so completely and quickly.
We feel completely confident in ordering an England 5 piece sectional with power recliners. To date our experience with the very Gavigans store that was reported earlier has been very satisfying. I'll report my reactions after we have the furniture in service for several months.

    Still like your furniture??? All the complaints are valid about the England furniture cushions. If the quality is not the ssme as twenty years ago then they should be charging premium prices.I paid ocer $2,600.00 for my sectional (not exactly chump change) And got the quality of a $300.00 sofa you can get from Value city. For the Value City quality you can get eight sofas and use them as disposable's and when they look worn just toss them out.DO NOT BUY FROM ENGLAND FURNITURE!!!!!

      I am sure Mr. smarty pants is wishing he never bought his sectional.  Probably why he has not updated anyone.  I am sure Mr. Arnold is quick to email and try to sucker someone into buying their junk.  How about when there is an issue?  He does not respond then...speak from personal experience.  Stay away from this company.  There are so many other American made companies that deserve your money.

    that is silly, England is not charging you the price, the store makes up whatever price they want to charge.  the store makes the profit, not the manufacturer.

    hahaha you think value city it the same level of quality as england well let me tell you whats inside value city furniture CARDBOARD!!!!! seriously at least england is a solid wood frame dont speak unless you know what your talking about
