I too have had a nightmare with a Maytag Appliance- dishwasher. MDB8959AWS3.... Although at the time of purchase, I believed I had bought a top of the line Stainless Steel dishwasher.  The racks tip forward with the weight.  So although I have appliance warranty in place thru Xcel energy- the plan does not cover the racks... and after only 3 years of dealing with this lemon of a machine, a repair man informed me that the parts did not appear to be installed in my machine.  I called Maytag to ask if something could be done, and was informed that Although I paid for the parts to be on the machine, it was my fault that I didn't notice they weren't there.  As the hot water warms the plastic parts to teh adjustable rack, and then this plastic cools... you can imagine the cracks that occcur on the upper racks adjustable arms... when a "stabalizer" wheel is not even included in the machine.  So After my call to Maytag, I am left baffled that I purchased parts that should have been included with my original purchase, only to find out that they shipped only one side of the racks parts needed, and I will now have to call once again and request additional parts.   The Manager never mentioned that others were having any problems with this maching... but after researching this on the internet, the machine should have a "wheel" 8270018 which helps to stabalize the rack.  I Still do not have the "stablizer" part 8270018,  I am not the only person who has purchased this machine and found the top racks tilting forward.   When you spend good money on a machine, you expect it to last years.  my appliances are covered by extended warranties, this problem appears to be a noted problem from other buyers as Maytag has even replaced this noted part 8270018 and the manager never bother to mention that they have had any complaints on this model.  A helpful Maytag representative, should have simply informed the customer, that the were aware of problems with the upper rack, and assisted with offering some solution to the fact that they shipped a product without parts included.  I am Shocked at the customer service departments response that I should have known which parts were to be on the machine.  After speaking to a manager, I was basically informed that I would have to order the parts to repair the machine, that there really was nothing more they would do.  After ordering, what I believed to be what was needed, I was shipped parts only for the one side of machine- the right side.  Shouldn't a manager be aware that two sets were needed? .. Shouldn't a manager care that I still don't have the stablizing wheel 8270018- which appears to be noted on the internet as being now replaced by another part.  Perhaps I should simply have not only a tilted Maytag top rack, but also a lopsided  one- since I only have the parts to the one side.  Maytag really needs a lesson on Customer satisfaction and assistance- Last time, when I spoke with Maytag, I asked if I could speak to someone higher up as I really was not satisfied, and they simply told me that they were the manager on duty and that no one was higher then them to speak to.  Now I get to look forward to calling them once again, as this is not acceptable

We seem to have the same problem---I think this is a design flaw. The adjuster is weak and the support bracket in the back is so loose that it fails to stabilize the top shelf, so the adjusting unit is overstressed and fails.  The replacement cost of adjusters is absurd--around $50 for each one; if Maytag is really not going to help here then I am going to redesign the bracket or simply immobilize the shelf. This doesn't speak well about their commitment to stand by their product.

I called Maytag parts about this.  I talked to someone who seemed actually helpful and they looked into it.  Apparently, though their diagram still has part 8270018 as a line item (number 3 on the top rack diagram), it has been mistakenly cross-referenced to a door adjustment kit.  They said that the stabilizer wheel should be part of the adjuster assembly (numbers 6 and 6a).  As I was trying to get further clarification, the phone line went bad and I got disconnected.  I called back and was connected to a much less helpful person who listened to the whole story again, told me I needed part 6 and then said, do you want to order.  No explanation, no nothing, just 2 day shipping for $15.95 and give me your credit card number.  I decided to wait.  Not going to reward being treated that way.  I tie-wrapped it up for now and will check into the parts a bit more.
