It's been about two months since we started using Square Up. At the beginning I only had small problems, for some reason it declined some of my customers cards, that my other machine could process just fine. I didn't pay much attention to it. Then about 2 weeks ago, it was "unable to process payment", on one of my regular customers debit visa card, I ran the card a couple of times because it had taken it before, but got same error. Unfortunately my customer got charged, we have the same bank and verified squareup had taken his money,  they refunded one of the transactions, but not the other, and squareup NEVER made the deposit to  my account, i had to pay my client's purchase from my own pocket!! I couldn't find a customer service number or email,  I sent them an email to noreply@messaging.squareup.com, and of course they didn't answer. In the meantime i had already canceled my old cc machine so i had no choice to continue using square, and they stole money from my clients again today. I've stopped using square as of today, however i still need to get my money back, any suggestions?

    Squareup has screwed me too!!!  they have failed to deposit over $6,000 into my bank account and worst yet, when I had to make a refund, they took it out of my own personal money!!  they debited my account to give the refund instead of refunding from the card.  They kept the money and I paid the refund.  unbelievable.  No answer ever from email and there is no customer service number, no person to even complain to.  The worst of this is I'm a start up business too and need the money.

      Yes! Square took 153$ out of my personal acct because a woman called and reported fraud. I sold merchandise to a man in california and she was in virginia. Am I not protected in this situation?? He committed fraud not me- why am I out the funds? To add frosting on the cake, the square rep was not sympathetic or seemed to even care. And..... I missed out on a 2,000$ purchase because it kept denying a customers card. Thanks to square my business is off to a rough start. BEWARE to those interested, run in the other direction!!

    Bottom line is this guys all this free mobile crap is a bunch of crap wether you go with square or the garbage Brad Michaels is peddling above. The rates are ridiculous. I was with square and had nearly 6K of my money held for 3 months.... After alot of research i found out that the big dogs in the industry is a company that goes by the name of First Data. I guess wells fargo, bank of america. anyone that is somebody goes through them even the phone swipe service the guy is trying to sell above.
    I pay a monthly service from my reader like $15 bucks a  month but i dont have any issues with money being deposited or customer service.  

    Do yourself a favor and call them (800)918-6409 from my calculations their rates are almost half of all these gimmicky phone processing companies......

      Funny! I was told that paying a $15 fee would reduce my processing rate. In the end i payed almost 4.3% for more than half of my swipes!! The qualifed rate i was quoted was apparently a teaser rate... I did not know that the non-qualified rate could apply to a swiped charge! On top of that i had a $15 monthly fee!!!

      No thanks Mr.! Id rather go with a program that you pay as you go with a flat rate. Obviously! Any payment processor can legally hold funds. Read the fine print.

          @Bryan, you guys have some pretty nasty reviews (people not receiving money, people being jerked around, emails not being answered), seems like the same kind of operation Square is running.

    I have been using Square for about a year and have no problems at all.  I like it.  Money is the account next day and have had no issue whatsoever.  Had a lot more problems when I used the machines.

      Square does not deposit next day, so you are nothing but a liar. It takes a few days even if everything goes perfectly.

    Please be advised that I will be setting up an appointment and/or a web-site complete with the Better Business Bureau to REPORT one of your clients (PJ’s Pups, 2918 S. Jupiter, Garland, TX, 75047 – License #245) for processing a payment through your company and not providing proper documents as promised at the time of purchase on August 17, 2013 at 12:43pm – Receipt #nWaG in the amount of $541.25.

    I purchase a Poodle – Sire: Theda’s Jock A Lot – Dam: Noble’s Parti Ms ETTA – Sex: F – Born: 5-27-13 – Color: Black.

    I have called and talked to someone by the name of Candy at (214) 636-0636 and she has been unable to provide said document as stated above.

    I will be submitting your company as well as Cindy to the Better Business Bureau.

    This is something I do not what to do but $500.00 is a lot to pay for an animal with no papers.

    I am sorry ! Starting from 3/26/2016 I am not getting a square sent " account in my inbox . This shows something happening . Because I couldn't reconcile the amount deposited and the daily sale of my work .

    I have not received a forty dollar payment in between changing bank accounts i did a transaction up until this point i have not heard anything.
