I purchased a flight ticket with the Travel Guard Insurance to Burkina Faso on July 4th, 2017. I believed I was protected against the unforeseen need of cancellation of the trip. On August 24th, 2017 the Global Affairs Canada, part of Government of Canada issued the advisory against non-essential travel to Burkina Faso due to terrorist activities in this country. I canceled the flight, Air Canada refunded my ticket partially and the Travel Guard supposed to cover the remaining $500. They refused based on their policy that the terrorist attack must occur 30 days prior to my arrival. My claim is not about terrorist attacks but about the Government of Canada advisory against non-essential travel to Burkina Faso. But TRAVEL GUARD INSURANCE does not honour and ignores this advisory. If you purchase your flight ticket and want an Insurance please ask for another company, there are three or four to choose from. AVOID TRAVEL GUARD INSURANCE!!!!!!
