On 2-19-10 I received a telephone call from 876-306-4959 stating I had won $4.5 million and a car from a sweepstakes at the MGM in Las Vegas. To collect all I had to do was pay 1% of the winnings to cover taxes/fees. I told him he was a scam artist and not interested. He proceeded to call numerous times from the same number throughout the day which I did not answer. Later that day my wife received a call from 876-806-4026 stating he was the manager for some company and his name was JM Kingston and he was calling to verify that the sweepstakes was not a scam. My wife informed him it was a scam and not to call again. This guy was very persistent. Remember the old saying: "If it is too good to be true, then it probably is." Tried to find what US government agency to report this to but appears since originating outside the US no one has any authority. Just wanted to post a warning to others and get the word out.

Note the common fraud tactic of claiming to be associated with a well known name ("MGM"), to "borrow" their legitimacy.

Common with "Microsoft", or "Yahoo" lottery scams, "Walmart" shopping spree scams, etc.

Remember, no legit sweepstakes asks you to pay anything! NO Shipping, No handling, no nothing. They may deduct taxes, but, only from what they give out. Be safe out there! Thanks for the note Harold.

My parents have been receiving the same type of calls.... they ask how long it will take to go to the Wal-Mart to purchase a money order in the amount of $99.99.... both my parents are disabled but knew this was a scam. My Dad told them just to give it to St.Jude... of course they continue to call back.  One day my daughter answered the line after my mother informed them to stop calling and she was reporting the matter to the police, the man on the phone spoke to my daughter in the most degrading manner possible.
Just don't answer the phone if it shows Jamaica or Unknown!!!

I've been getting calls from Jamaica, K and he calls at least 3 times/day. I talked to him once and said that it was a scam and to quit calling me. Well, he just called a few min. ago. I called the police since this has been going on for months. He told me just don't answer and that he'll give up eventually. The policeman said he and his wife went through the same sort of thing with the calling on the phone.

My father-in-law has been getting these calls.  He actually went so far as to go down to Walmart, as directed, to put $500 on a money card to send the caller.  Fortunately they would not take a check and he didn't have the cash.  They keep calling, and I can't convince him that it's a scam.  I'm afraid they will find some way of conning the money out of him.

I received a call this morning from 876-376-9582 number. This man called himself Bob Pounder, claimed to be from a American Money Mutual Company, gave me a web address which could not be found. He told me i was radomly selected from a data base from somewhere i used my bank card, he said it was at a walmart, k-mart, or a local grocery store, and won $95,000 and a brand new Mercedes Benz, told me my check and car title, not the car, would be delivered by UPS. When he asked me to go down to the nearest Walgreens or CVS Pharmacy and purchase a $213.00 delivery card i told him i was not going to pay to receive something i won, he advised me the card was for identity purposes, then later said the card was to take care of the goverment taxes so i could receeive my prizes free from taxes, I told him i didnt have the money anyhow so he asked for even just $75 and to send it to HOPETON LEE, 1401 New port street, Jamaica W.I and the company would be willing to wait until i received my winnings and get the balance then, I was getting ready for work so he asked me to not hang up no matter what and to inform him when i was driving on my way to the nearest western union or money grahm store. I contacted my bank fraud investigator and he informed me not send any money and to tell mr. Bob Pounder i was not interested, he was a fraud and i was making a police report. by now i had hung up on the caller who call me back 5 times in 1 minute. So i answered the call and to mr. Pounder, or whatever his name is, and that i looked up his phony web address and tracked his number to a land line in kingston, jamaica. He got upset and asked me why i would do such a thing, still insisting he was on the level with me. I them told him about my conversation with the fraud investigator and that i was on my was to the police station to file a report asked him to stop calling he simply said OK and hung up. LOSERS, GET A JOB, WORK FOR YOUR OWN MONEY!! QUIT TRYING TO STEAL FROM THOSE OF US WHO DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to confirm that "they", "he" or whoever is still at it.  Thanks for the postings.  Got a call from an 876 area code.  I knew better anyway and didn't fall for it but its good to share info as I can see that this has been going on for some time.  The Jamaican accent is apparently consistent.  I too was told that I had won money and a Benz and they just needed $300 (this time) to cover delivery charges.  Are you kidding me???

I got the same kind of call last Saturday. Jamacan accent also. He said they would deliver the cr this afternoon. I asked how much this will cost. He said you just pay the tax. I told him I did not believe him. I asked who is giving this away. He said Donald Trump. I said have Donald call me then. At first he said we entered a contest and later he said it was a randum drawing for shopping at some stores. He said my wife must have shopped. I said no, she died in May. Get those credit card offers to lower my rate all the time. 2 times a week at least. We have the do not call thing. I guess they find away around that.

    No fool!!!
Same thing happened to me.  Have reported it to Attorney General and Sheriff's Dept.  Told I won 2.5 million, mercedes and a year's gas for car. All I needed to do was go to CVA or Walgreens for a card with 14 identifying numbers and pay $299. I was not to tell anyone because it was going to be on TV with Donald Trump presenting me with the money and car.F2t9  They were only 45 minutes away and would meet me there.  Of course, I did not go.  Asked who was sponsoring this and they told me Donald Trump and gave me a number to call Donald.  I called that number just to see what would happen and the same stupid person answered the phone and told me he was Donald Trump's secretary.  This episode has lasted over two weeks.  At least 15 calls a day.  Have stopped all unidentified numbers to my phone.

I've been receiving phone calls from varies 876 numbers, unknown numbers, and, blocked numbers. I was told that i won 3.5 million dollars and a mercedez, I was even asked which color i prefered? i responded black and the guy was like, your in luck we have a black one in stock. I havent wired any money. Thy haven't asked me yet (i can't wait for when they do). I work from 5:30am to 4:30pm, so when they call me throughout the day i can't answer the phone. I was so excited when i recieved the phone call out of no where, but I had that feeling that something wasn't right, so thats when i googled 876 numbers ans sweepstake scams and sure enough i found all this information. Needless to say we'll have a real good conversation when they do decide to call back.

Just got a call from 876-424-9916 saying I had won 2.5 million dollars and a 2012 Mercedes Benz. To claim it I had to pay 5%. He wanted me to go to Walmart and purchase a card with a 14 digit code on the back of it. He said to put $100 on it. So glad there are sites like this one to let people know about these scams.

My mother got a call from a 876 number as well, said his name was David Brown she had won a Mercedes and 15 million  we have called the police.  the creep has called several times even after I got on the phone and told him I knew it was a fraud and to not call back again and the police had been notified.  When I got to looking at the number, I realized that jm kingston had called before several times and she had said they were a survey company when I asked her why she was giving them so much information.  Now I get it, they call posing as a survey company, asking questions and then when they call saying you're a winner they have all your personal information from previous phone calls, because the person has given it to them!  I wish there was a way to put a stop to this.
