Absolutely rediculous!!! I bought a maytag centennial washer....commercial technology, a little over 2 years ago. I've been having problems with it spinning and draining periodically for the last 6 months. It always ended up working again until.... No go. I have 3 small children, a fiancé who I do laundry for as well bc he works nights... My piece of crap washer stopped. I had to manually drain it.. Called all appliance places nearby, got help...perhaps a SOCK is stuck in your water pump... Well by golly there was!!!!!! Buuuut after laundromats n the most dirty clothes baskets I've ever seen in my life. I saw the light...new pump. $128.50 later this [***] still won't work! Lid lock is STILL clicking. Won't do anything!!!!!! I'm so mad I could scream n cry!!!! This washing machine is garbage!!! dO NOT BUY A MAYTAG CENTENNIAL washer, or ANY maytag appliance, their warranties are terrible and the new appliances aren't up to par, not a bit just stay away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    WE purchased this washer in 2013 and it has been tearing clothing, especially fine fabrics, ever since.  This is irrespective of setting used.  We have also experienced the poor washing, which is not that unusual for so-called "high-efficiency" washers.  Apparently Maytag has responded to the complaint about low water levels by making the new models with doors (or lids, as you might call them on top-loaders) that lock shut until the cycle is over!  That way you cannot see the water level.  I guess the laugh is on us.
