I get these annoying calls7:30 am and well after 9:00pm from this company Shapiro & Price, stating they are litigation attorneys. although the number listed 877.228.1217 Shapiro & Price that number  is listed on my caller ID as 866.377.5362.  Mr Bob Carson has called over 30 time.  He has threatened my mother, has called my job and threatened me something terribly, using profanity. He stated I owe a company that went out of business and now i am being held responsible for filing fees and court fees well over $4,500.00. And if I would pay today we can settle this matter for $2,000.00.  Can someone share some insight on this issue?  In the meantime perhaps I will go to the media, but in the meantime your feedback would be appreciated. HELP!!

    WHAT RETUNED ITEM
    I recieved a message on my answering machine saying that Shapiro and Price Law is calling about a returned item to my bank account. I have never had a returned item and am in good standing. I recieve statements every month about my bank accounts and if there is something wrong overdrawn, bad check ect I would know. I am very aware of my accounts and monitor them close. However, as I said before while standing in a classroom in AZ a young lady rented a car in NJ in my name. The car place debited my account almost $800.00 I saw it the day it happened and called the company. Appologies were given and refund which took 7-10 days. It would be more believable if they gave you some clue as to what it was they are talking about but everyone knows returned check over drafts and charge backs are something a bank would be first line of contact. So WHAT RETURN? WHAT DEBIT? WHAT BANK?

    I have been getting calls from Shapiro and Price for over a month now, usually they leave a message that never says who this call is for....I finally found out it is for my ex, that has been divorced from me for over 12 years. I finally called the number and the woman seemed nice about taking my number off their list, since they had my ex's address, and then when I asked for her address so I could send them a letter saying to stop contacting me, since I'd just seen that on my local news, that if you send them a letter they have to stop, and the woman promptly hung up on me!! We'll see if I'm actually taken off the list. I am not doubting my ex has a financial issue, I just don't want to be harrassed due to it. They got my phone number somehow off a credit report.

    I took out a payday loan through Advance America in OH. I made a payment on that loan, however I am not sure of the amount I borrowed or the amount I paid on the account or of the actual dates any of this occurred on. A representative going by the name of James Stone from Shapiro & Price  contacted my father in PA. Mr Stone told him he was a paralegal from the Attorney's Law Firm of Shapiro & Price. He told my father that I owed money on a bad check from a payday loan company and the company was filing criminal charges against me and needed to contact me. My father said he would not release my contact info to them but he would give me the message right away, which he did. My father said Mr Stone then got flippant with him and threatened to have him arrested for aiding and abetting for refusing to give out my contact info. My father yelled back at him not to threaten him and hung up. I called the number Mr. Stone provided to my father(866-377-5362) and spoke to Mr Stone at 2:43 p.m. on 3/24/11. Mr. Stone was contacted within 15 minutes of him contacting my father. He also gave me the same identification he gave to my father. When I asked for information on the dates which activity took place, he got belligerent with me and said "Well when I take out a loan, I remember it." This loan was taken out 2-3 years ago. I have psychological issues and take medication that effects my memory and I told him this. Although I do remember taking out the loan, I do not remember the specific dates transactions took place (because I did make payments on this debt). He then said, call me back in a couple minutes at 716-986-9606 ext.123. So I called the new number he gave to me and I did not get an answer but I left a message. So I called back again a couple minutes later, still no answer but I left my full contact information on his voice mail. He called back a few minutes later but I couldn't answer the phone so he left a message for me to call back which I did a few minutes later and I didn't get an answer again. So I called the first number 866-377-5362 and spoke to a lady that identified herself as Nichole Evans. She told me she would email me all the transaction history records on this account and that the full balance I owed was $262.50 but the company was willing to settle for a payment of $100.00 and we agreed I would pay it on 4/3/11. I thought that was going to be the end of it but no. At 4:22 p.m. Mr Stone called back and demanded I speak with him. I told him no, that the matter was already resolved through Ms. Evans. He said "No it isn't, I'm her boss and it's not resolved. Why don't you want to speak to me?" I said "Because I don't want to, let me speak to your superior!" He said hang on, I waited a minute and a man answered the phone and identified himself as Mr. Thomas and said he doesn't know what's going on and why he is involved, so he then put someone else on the phone and she identified herself as Natalie Porter. She said that Ms Evans had no right to make an agreement with me and that the amount owed that Ms Evans gave me was incorrect and they now wanted $262.50. So, in order to end this frustration I gave her my debit card information and made arrangements for the money to be paid on specified dates. However, after I got off the phone with her, I looked Shapiro & Price up on the internet and did a little digging of my own. Much to my surprise, they are NOT a law firm as they had represented themselves to be and they have no authority to threaten criminal charges against me or my father. They are a collection agency located in Buffalo NY that have many complaints filed against them for fraud and misrepresentation through many state attorney general's offices and the BBB. So I immediately called my bank and have arranged it so that this company cannot collect funds from my account. This company is in violation of numerous Fair Debt Collection Practices Act codes with me and my father and I do not intend on paying this company one cent. They falsely identified themselves, they made threats of criminal charges they cannot act on, they refused to give me information that I am legally entitled to have (no email or anything that documents transaction history) and they gave a misrepresentation of the balance owed and conflicting stories. Also, they placed a phone call to my father at approximately 6:30 p.m. again this evening AFTER this issue was supposedly resolved. My question is this...since this so called company is in SO many violations of various state and federal laws, where the Hell are the authorities?? Why has no government agency taken any legal action against this company and why are they allowed to remain in business???!!!!! And yes, I did today file a complaint with both the OH Attorney General's Office and the FTC and I do plan on filing a civil lawsuit against this company at the end of this month. One way or another, this company will pay for their criminal activity!!!!!!!!!! Please people, if you know someone who can take legal law enforcement against this company and have them shut down, please do so before any other people are hurt!

    I received a call from these people asking someone NOT ME to pay up.  When I returned the call I informed them I was not the person they were looking for and that I no longer wanted to receive phone calls from them (lest I persue my own legal action ;) ).  They took my number off the list of contact numbers for the person they're trying to reach...supposedly.  We shall see.

    FWIW- The gentle man was not rude, but not particularly friendly either. ;)

    They called again today. I didnt answer but they said I HAVE A BAD CHECK and to call imedadiately to clear it up. These calls r driving me crazy.

    How do you get them to stop harrassing me at work and also have them stop calling my parents and threatening them?
    I've filed complaint with the local police dept., fcc and fbi and they still call and harrass and give out my social security numbers to who ever answeres the phone.

    This is a legitimate scam that has been show on numerous news reports.  I recieved a call from them regarding a pay day loan that I defaulted on.  I have never had a payday loan in my life (I have never even had a job so how could I even get one), not to mention that payday loans have been illegal in my state for a while.

    marshall thomas is doing the same thing to me.  i agreed to pay 100.00 a month till the 1000.00 was paid off. we agreed for the payment to be taken out on the 17th of each month. they took it out early plus 7.oo for each transaction,. then they started taken out more than the payment.  last month they took out 300.00. i called them every day and they just give me some bull [***] excuse why they took the money.  they have taken me for 800.00 total.  i had not thought this was a scam as i did owe the $$$$ but after they took out more than the payment i started checking into them.  when i called to get the correct spelling and address they were rude and hung up on me.  mr. thomas hung up on me today when i told him lets just go to court. i also told him all i have left owing is 200.00 to go ahead and take me to court, i would be glad to have a chat with the judge. he hung up on me.  wow. cant believe i fell for this one.

    I wished I had done research on this company before I gave them my debit card number and 250.00.  I got a call from them on Monday telling me that they weren't going to take my payments anymore and to come up with another 325.00. Told him I didn't have it my husband say how stressed and upset I was and call him a not so nice name, the man proceeded to tell me to tell my husband to shut up. I asked for something in writing to be mailed to me as to the debt amount and the company I owed it to and he refused told me no why would he waste his time when I am not complying. Told me he would send me an email outlining his terms, and to call him back tomorrow. Don't be a sucker like I was and fall for what they are telling you. I checked my credit report and the debt they say I am to pay them isn't even on it. I have not been sleeping well ever since Monday when they said they were taking me to court and charging me with fraud.

    I am so Glad that I looked this up today Before Giving them any Money. They have been calling me for Months Demanding a Debit Card Number to pay back a Pay Day Loan. I told them I would like to get this Taken Care of but could not pay the Amount they wanted a Month. I tried to Explain that I am a Single Mother with a Special Needs Child and on a Fixed Income But they got Very Rude and Nasty with me & Threatened me with a Citation if I didn't Pay the Amount they wanted that day. After telling them again that I did not have the money at that time they started threating me again so I hung up. Everytime they call it's a Different Person, and Each Person is Ruder then the Next. Shapiro & Price are Nothing more then a Bully that are Attacking People who are tring to keep there heads above Water. Using the Name (Shapiro & Price) puts Fear into the People that they are Calling & Because of that They are able to Get Money out of them. Please Everyone, Report these People Before they can Scam someone else.

    Everyone needs to flood the attorney general's office with complaints about these crooks. We all should contact the media and the governors office. TV news and newspapers will expose the attorney general for not following up and the governor will have to take action if he doesn't want it to hurt him politically.

    I recieve calls from a company called Shapiro & Price and every time there an automatic message saying I need to call them back with my record number. When I call them back there is noone to answer my call and there mailbox is always full and I cannot even leave a message. I am not even sure how they got my cell phone number because it is not listed. I have no debts or any legal issues and I am not sure why I am getting these phone calls. To me there is something fishy going on with this company.

    I received a call today from shapiro & Price. They advised me I have a an old payday loan from 2009. The " attorney " advised me they have filed civil charges against me in Guilford County court. They gave me a file number. I called the Guilford County civil department and checked the file number. The file number does not exist. Be aware their phone numbers have changed. New phone number: 855-704-4301.

    Unbelievable! I receive calls from these people almost weekly about people I don't know and it is not always about the same person.  I've made numerous request to them to take my name off of their call list but obviously my request are go unheeded.  Today the lady that answered the call and my latest request told, rather surly, "just hang up, sir;" to which I replied, "go fornicate yourself."

    To bad the the Do Not Call Registry has no enforcement power.  I guess to these big time attorneys and companies we are just small people who don't really matter, but I'm just 'pissed off' enough to tell them that I do matter!!!

    I got a call from a Mr.Shapiro requesting money on a payday loan he asked me to go pick up a prepaid card at Walmart and put money on it. He was dude and when I call the number back 18773332803in I her a recording as well. Is this the same company u all are talking about? Please help? He threatened jail time.

      I don't want to pay him. When I couldn't pay him the first full payment of 400 he freaked out and told me I was pissing him off.

    Oh man! I should win easy in the next academy award for best actress! I just got a SCAM call from some one who could not speak English. (Novatel210-249-0540) He told me my computer had a virus and he is with Microsoft to correct and clear the virus. (Actress/Karen Oh no! My computer....) he gave me instructions on what to do while in front of my computer. (I repeat back instructions while sitting in my recliner, smoke a cigarette and drinking my Miller Light.). Ok, did that, what else...please tell me my computer is okay. " Calm down mam, we will protected you from any virus". Of course he was not getting the computer reading he wanted yet I am tell him my computer is run a bunch of numbers and stopped with an error. He stated he needed to transfer me to a higher tier which was his supervisor. Me: Great, please help me, I do not want anyone hacking. Another foreign voice comes on, introduce himself, I asked repeat and spell your name? (My name is Jerry the supervisors to further assist you. He gave me instructions I kept repeating with Ok, did that. (Time for another beer) Then the BOMB. "Jerry!" "Yes". I need to inform you this call is being recorded. I do not own a computer and therefore what you are doing is a SCAM. CLICK. Lol. The highlight of my day. I win.....best actress in the next academy awards. Now I got to report this phone number on the federal website as scam. Hope it still works or has this too been a Berry (Obama) cutback?

    I went through this back in 2011 with Shapiro/Price who claims to be a debt collector with threatening Phone calls from two different phone numbers first it is from a number 1-888-499-0864 and the second number is 1-734-547-5713 this number is a recording that it is not available and the first number just rings three times and then it hangs up and will to take you into court if the bill was not paid, well here it is 2019 and it is starting all over again but with a different company, for the same amount that Shapiro/Price was trying to collect from well this time I have a lawyer and lets see what they will do now.
