    These may be either "promotional" free samples, or the opening move in a fraudulent subscription marketing scam.
    Either way, you have no obligation to pay for any merchandise sent to you that you did not agree to buy.  Attempts to coerce or con you into paying for such is fraud and should be reported to FTC, your state AG, and the US Postal Inspector.

    Contact the publishers directly to notify them to cancel the "subscriptions".  You can find their contact information they may try to brush you off, passing you back to some marketer you never even had contact with.  Report any attempt by a marketer to imply you are obligated to pay anything to FTC, your state AG, and the US Postal Inspector.
    Ballistic nut-case response:  Send a complaint to BBB against any publishers who fail to cancel unwanted "subscriptions".
    If they do anything other that promptly cancelling them, respond to BBB that their response is unacceptable and that you are filing a complaint with the US Postal Inspector.
