After lots of phone calls, conplaints , threats, pleading.......regarding failure of my 2 1/2 yr old series 3000 washer, Lowes (where I bought this piece of junk) is sending me a check for the purchase price and my sales tax. I have never been treated so poorly when I was sold a piece of junk machine: Lowes, their third party extended warranty company, Maytag and Whirlpool; all really suffer in customer service when they know they have sold junk.
Only when I called Maytag corporate customer service did I get a person who got some action but I was also challenged to tell why repair of my washing machine was so critical.
Anyway, without asking for my money back, I got a voice message saying 'the check is in the mail' for my purchase price and tax. They call this a warranty buyout. I guess it means heres your money, don't bother us any more.
So I got a new Samsung machine and this was interesting: the delivery guys told me they pick up lots of Maytags these days and the customers all say their purchase price is being refunded, no repairs being done. I am hoping that their comments that they 'never' pick up or hear about Samsung machines is valid.
I could write pages about my treatment from all involved but its clear to me that Maytag knows the 3000 series is a Lemon but they dont want to publicly admit it.
I would stay away from Maytag and Whirlpool
