Pay day loan allegations
Complaint
Melanie Dillon
Country: United States
I just received a call from a Paul Smith stating that I deliberately got a pay day loan from Cash Advance America and did pay it back. They are stating I owe $365.89 and that if I didn't take care of this then my local sheriff's office will be notified and I will be arrested and put in jail for 90 days. And also my employer is being notified. But the first thing that made me realize that this was false is that he asked me if the sheriff had already come by and notified me of this case, which of course they haven't because there is no case. Also I knew that I didn't do any pay day loan last year. Such [***] that people like this can do these things and know some of my personal information and call me and get me really mad in front of my children. I would like to be a part of any case if anything is done. The phone number they called me from was 1-914-363-5004. And of course he hung when I started yelling at him stating he's full of [***].

Did you ever apply to an online payday loan website?
If so, did the information he had match what you might have entered?
Any thick accent?
It's a scam, of course.
Ignore them.
Or if they continue to harass you with calls, call and harass them back.
Some have reported that that finally gets the message across.
I HATE THIS KIND OF STUFF!
"uh hi uh (my correct first name) this is keith parker from cash avdance america (first name) we have got you (not misspelling, did not say YOUR or didn't pronounce the R...) loan application which you have applied online and now it has been approved so uh (first name again) mumbling" and then message cut off.
I never have applied for any loan application online. Nor have I for car insurance quotes but I get those calls regularly too. This wouldn't freak me out so much if my first name wasn't correctly associated with my cell number.
