I purchased a Maytag Centenial 2/2010 and purchased an extended warranty which ran out 2/1/13 for around $700.00, large capacity washer, I even purchased the matching dryer later.
First in 9/2011, I had service come out because it stopped working, it was a disconnected wire. The bill came to $180.00 to reattach the wire, which the warranty paid. Then in July 2012 the circuit boards had to be changed out because the machine started to agitate before it filled with water which recked my clothes and after the final spin or during the clothes would still be wet (not because it wouldn't drain, that was OK)
WELL, same problem and only 7 months later. Service stands behind parts and labor only 90 days, warranty is over by 23 days. I called Maytag they wouldn't help because it is out of warranty.
My advice is NOT to buy a Maytag washer. My old GE lasted 18 years. I called service and it will be $100.00 for them to come out, I'll bet the circuit boards will be replaced again and the whole thing will start over.
The last service man said the machine I have has had the problem and he advised me not to stop the washer when it was running and always turn the dial to the right, not backward.

Get this under warranty the same repair guy changed out all three circuit boards in the control units. This time it was only the water control unit. I am sure the warranty company was ripped off.
