Afni is telling me I allegedly owe $86.00 to ATT. ATT has no record of i owe anything. I asked Afni/and a vitriolic virago who runs the cesspool, for a HOLDER IN DUE COURSE, i got a photostat
copy of an ATT bill which phone number/acc number I HAVE NEVER HAD, USED IN MY LIFE! Yes, it
has my name and address but..... This people are as crooked as a dog's hind leg.... how do you get
through to these damned swindlers? I know one thing: from the date they received that demand
of holder in due course and the old bag drags around trying to stall.... they'll get nothing but a litigation. Either way, GUARANTEED: They are not going to get a farthing from me. Now she can
go back to her dreamland dream some more of how "ATT informed Afni on or about March 2001,
an account will be established by me on March 1, 2008 and will be considered delinquent by the creditor (AT&T) by October 24, 2008...Full seven years before the account is established....THAT IS
THEIR CLAIM!.... But what I don't understand how these morons have access to credit files without
a proof and flag them ? This really crushed what little belief i had in their impartiality...
Before I forget in 2008 I sent a payment of 80 bucks to ATT...... a few weeks later i got a ATT refund check, for the amount ($80.00) issued 07/01/2008, ATT ck#6716417763....Now..... if i owed money to ATT as the old bag screeches, why in hell would they send me a refund? I HAVE A COPY OF IT..... I gave them the info to check.... guess what? they never did check. not a peep on that note, they have never acknowledge even having that information...... They are bunch of thieves. HERE IS MY LETTER It is clear, and concise.

To whom it may concern:
This letter is being sent to formally dispute the validity of an alleged debt, in its entirety, of $86.00 from a creditor known as “AT&T” (Afni Collections number 031998533-01). Pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, I am formally requesting validation—in full—of the alleged debt on which you are attempting to collect.
Be aware that this letter is not a request for address validation; this letter is to formally dispute the validity of the alleged debt that is listed on the collection notice and demand that the debt validation is provided to me, by you, in its entirety in accordance with both federal and State of California laws.
All communications and correspondence pertaining to this matter are to be carried out via the United States Postal Service at the mailing address found below and not by way of telephone, e-mail, or any form of electronic communication. Furthermore, all forms of correspondence pertaining to this matter received at and sent from said mailing address have and will be photocopied and retained for any and all future legal proceedings if necessary.
My specific dispute with the Afni Collections, Inc. alleged debt is based on the fact that I have only had one telephone service which was transfered to Time Warner Cable Company. I dispute the validity of this debt and formally request evidence of validation in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I am requesting that the following information be supplied by your agency: a detailed description of the product and/or service for which this alleged debt is owed; an itemized description of how the alleged debt was calculated; and copies of all documents showing that I agreed to purchase any product and/or service in addition to paying for a product and/or service from a creditor known as “AT&T.”
Be advised that the hardcopy and photocopies of the Afni Collections, Inc. collection notice and all future documentation pertaining to this matter have and will be retained and/or photocopied for use by my attorney and each agency that I am contacting regarding this situation.
My request for this very thing previous to this was ignored. In your reply to BBB as result of my complaint to BBB you inform them that you have requested an investigation and result to be sent to me by AT&T is absolutely unacceptable. I am requesting Afni provide me directly, since Afni is the entity demanding a payment of alleged debt, no one else. That burden is yours.
Unless you respond to my demand for proof of Holder-In-Due-Course within 30 days after receiving this
notification and provide a legible copy of the original contractual agreement with my signature, I will consider
your collection notice invalid. Further, non-provison of proof will result in possible legal actions on my part against your firm
Thank you.

They have also been reported to send bills to people who once lived at some address, but not at the time an account was open and who may never even have been on the account. In effect, they may "fix" some account based on their sloppy searches, and alter the original information to match.
They have many complaints of failing to actually check or validate disputed accounts. You can find complaints where they are collecting on some old account that the telecom company shows as paid with no balance due, and even in a 3 way conference call, they argue with the telecom CSR.
Check your credit reports, since they routinely trash consumers' credit, even though they are sloppy with identification.
Don't waste your time with BBB, as apparently they have paid them off to get a good rating.
Just get an attorney. They have been sued many times, and apparently regard it as just a cost of business. You might try www.naca.net
