The Consumer Law Group P.A. are scam artist, don't be fooled by people saying that there great, those people basically have worked or worked for them.  I told eric that I can look into the program, but Eric told me that I was being recorded.  I got another call from them expressing the importance of signing and sending the contract to them.  I told them that I'm not interested and today June 12, 2009 they still went ahead and withdrew 349.00 dollars from my account, BE VERY AWARE OF THE CONSUMER LAW GROUP P.A.  nOW I HAVE TO GO AND FIGHT FOR MY MONEY AS i HAVE NO MONEY FOR MY GROCERIES OF BILLS.  DO NOT LET THE CONSUMER LAW GROUP ROB YOU OF YOU HARD EARNED MONEY.  THEY ARE NOT LAWYERS, THERE TELEMARKETERS, BE AWARE OF THIS SCAM

    Dispute the fraudulent charges, since they knew full well you had not agreed to them.  

    Also contact your Attorney General, or the Attorney General in the state they are located.  By calling themselves Consumer Law Group, they ARE claiming to be attorneys, which makes them subject to state bar penalties if they are not, as well as state bar codes of conduct, with penalties including disbarment, even if there is some attorney somehow connected.

    They appear to respond to BBB complaints to some degree.

    When a telemarketer says you are being recorded, it usually means they will later claim you agreed to something.  That does not mean that what you actually agreed to, if anything, is what they will later claim.  

    In fact, it is a common telemarketing fraud tactic to record an innocuous agreement, maybe even just that you are requesting information, and then later fraudulently claim you agreed to a verbal contract and authorized charges.  Since you were discussing "debt reduction" you probably gave them your account information to discuss what they could do for you, so they would have your credit card number to run through charges regardless of whether you reached an agreement.  Perfect opportunity for fraud.

    If you have any problem getting your money back, contact the Florida Attorney General.

    Here is their list of active investigations.  They are currently investigating many mortgage modification and debt reduction companies.  You might see if this company is on their list.

    I work for The Consumer Law Group and the process starts with a sales rep who will record a verbal authorization with the client to debit their bank account for payments. Clients spend at least an hour on the phone going over their debts and calculating payments, they are informed no less than 3 times by no less than 2 people that they are authorizing their first payment which is an earned fee and they agree that it will draft on a certain date. If you call to cancel before that date it will never draft. For some reason it seems people for whatever reason lose interest and just decide to let it go. We continue to call, leave messages, and receive no response. These are the people who are complaining. The thing is my company will refund money paid, it simply takes picking up the phone. The agreement can also be cancelled by e-mailing our cancellations department or signing and returning by fax or mail the letter of cancellation that's included with the paperwork that is sent out to every client.  It's honestly not fair to bad mouth my company when you obviously haven't even attempted to contact us, you never even gave us a chance.

    This is not true I called and left voice mail message as I couldn't pull up cancellation web site. I was told I had to 9/10/2009 to cancel I canceled on 9/8/2009. I expected a full refund of $720.00 which they withdrawn from my account.I called about my refund and was told I only had $199.00 coming since I didn't give them three days before the 10th of sept, no where in the contract does it state anything about 3 days before the 10th. According to the contract I'm entitled to a full refund . I don't know how you can let honestly come out of your mouth. Honest means to have honor there is none between thieves.

      Correct, I did the same thing and they never answered me back until I had to block my bank account to avoid future debits from anyone. Guess what... Thats the time when they called me, when they saw they couldn't get money from my account. Do not let them fool you. Today is 04/20/2017 btw

        The same thing happened to me. I have been trying to discuss my concerns for two months now with no contact or an email stating i needed to pay more to one of my creditors and no help at all. Once i stopped payments then they called and wanted to explain why I had been told incorrect information. I have filed a BBB and FTC complaint. I just want my money back because they haven't done anything to help me with my debt.

        At least you are able to leave a message. All numbers I have are bogus and I am on the phone now with my bank now stopping ALL future payments. Essentially my account has been frozen.

    This company promises many things but it's not in writing. Their contract is very vague. And if you're doing a debt settlement they will not include a breakdown of the payments due them. They will tell you that they divide the payments due them in the amount of months your plan is for. This seems to imply that they will divide $4500.00 into 36 months or 48 months evenly. But if you ask them to include that breakdown in writing on the contract they'll tell you flat out that they will not do that. Personally I've decided not to use them. My lawyer told me that these companies take all their money up front and there is nothing left to settle the accounts. So you'll get sued and then you'll have to file for bankruptcy anyway. And once they have your money it's impossible to get hold of the original person that dealt with you. This has been my experience. I think it's best, if you're insolvent to file for bankruptcy. And it's cheaper and safer if you get a reputable lawyer. Speak to someone who has already filed for bankruptcy and use their lawyer.

    I have also turned to this company to try to do debt consolidation and it was very misleading.  I didn't understand the program well enough and they should explain that their fees will be taken from your deposits first and that you have to build up your account with thousands of dollars before any negotiations can take place with your creditors.  I was told I would be charged $2,500 for their fee but would be able to pay so much per month for 42 months.  Well,  the problems with that is your bills continue to increase along with late fees, over the limit fees, ect..  When I saw after 4 months nothing was being negotiated with any of my creditors I called them and thats when they told me I had to have a few thousand saved before they could do this.  I recently cancelled my contract by calling first than writing a letter and mailing it to them.  I then called and asked for the remainder of my money to be refunded.  They will be sending next week.  I have called twice now so I pray it will be here by next week.  I have a friend who is going through this company also and just called and cancelled but never went through the steps to get her money back.  I am going to be helping her do this.  So don't just let them take all your money, if anything else you can get the money you put into the account after the fees were taken out.

    i am exactly where they are above i am going to cancel cut my loses if need be the case and negogiate myself  i signed the bottom line and i am usually smarter.....they are excellent at taking advantage of someone's moment of crisis. i understand i am the creator of my situation and the credit defaults were mine.

    They did not explain well up front and shame on me for not reading the contract. i have two pending trial dates for default.. i will caught my loses and negotiate myself before i let it go that far. for what i am being charged they should have an attorney present on my behalf. i am confident they have not made an offer to either of these accounts in the six months i have been on the program.


    there are better programs.

    I am so pissed at this co.  I had no idea half of what I paid a month was going to go in their pockets, not only that, not one creditor has been contacted, & my husband has received a summons to go to court.  We are going to cut our losses with them, call all the creditors, & try to work out some kind of payment plan.  They want their money, so, they work with us, or we file bankruptcy.  Please take my warning and DO NOT GO WITH THESE PEOPLE......We have been with them since JULY...they will not send you a breakdown of where your money goes.  Go figure.  So out of the almost $900 a month we send them, they take half!!!!  Not one dime or phone call has been made to our creditors!!!!

    I was took in by there smooth talking also.  I talked to a representative for about an hour on the phone.  Giving her all of my most personal information.  I recieved a phone call the next day from one of my creditors warning me of this company.  They were really nice about it and told me to go and google the company and see what he was talking about.  I did and I was amazed that I was so stupid.  I have not sent in the contract thank God and it has only been 3 days since I talked to them on the phone so I emailed them today and told them I wanted to cancell everything.  The first payment was not to come out until the 14th.  I am wainting to see if this happens even after I cancelled.  I might even go to the bank and change my account.  I guess that I will have to try and work things out myself with my creditors or does anyone have a really good source that can help with credit card debt.

    I have read many of these post and decided to put my 2 cents in. First, let me say, I did not and have not worked for any debt relief company. So don't accuse me because of this post. But I am currently using Consumer Law Group and have been for around a year. I know of them because my mother and sister used them at different times successfully so they both recommended them to me. Let me also say, I was NOT trying to get out of paying my debt ie trying to get the credit card company to take less (settle) money than I owed, I spent the money and I want to pay it back! But, the credit card companys where raising our interest rates so high, we were not making any headway on the balances. So thats why went to this group. I know I could have called the credit card companys myself and try to negotiate a an interest rate that mutually benefited us, but why? Consumer (American) Credit Consoling or Consumer Law Group has already worked this out (at least I thought) so I did not want to spend the time. It was not all good though, 2 of our credit cards (both of them from same people) would not re-age, therefor we showed a couple of months of late pays even though we were paying on time. No One from the CLG called to let us know!! So we hurried up and got some money together so we could catch up. Our credit was pretty good (heavily extended though) till this incident. Since debt to income sucked, this really screwed up our credit. But, since then everything has been fairly smooth and we check our balances to see the progress. Now, if your trying to get the credit card company to take less than you owe (even though its a lot of interest, we agreed to the terms when we signed up), then I guess you get what you pay for. But, if you are trying to get out of debt the honest way, I find this to be a pretty good solution. BUT!!! As with everything in life!!!! DONT TAKE it for granted that people are doing what they SAY they are going to do!!! Always always always follow up!!! If I would have paid more attention, I would not have three months of 30 day lates on 2 credit cards! You should ask a bunch of questions before hand, read contracts, everything that we have been taught for ever but just do not want to do! And absolutely know if you are trying to settle your debt or just get a reduced interest rate. Because the difference in how much you pay is HUGE! And as I have read in post here, it sounds like most of the complaints are from people trying to settle their debt rather than just getting a reduced fixed one that will actually allow us to pay off the debt we legitimately owe. This might be about 4 cents worth, you can keep the change!! lol

    I contacted the Consumer Law Group a couple of days ago. I just turned 65 and my Social Security has been reduced by $110. for Medicare and my health insurance has gone up $120. for Medicare Supplement Ins. Our interest rate on a Visa card has gone up to 24.24% for no reason. We always paid on time. When I was told I could get my $564. payments down to $249.42 a month and my $18,000. would be paid in 48 months I signed up. I hope this was the right thing to do. In the contract it says we will be getting a statement every month. I will let you know how things go as they progress.

    This message is so bogus its actually funny that this messenger would type in a bold face lie.  I do work for consumber law group.  When you do a debt settlement your money goes into a trust account untill a lump some is accumulated and then an offer for settlement is made to your creditor.  In the recording this is explained and also explained in the verification with the law office.  We explain debt settlement to the best of our ability but ones choice to not listen to details or ask questions when the program is explained is not our fault.  Out of your 900 per month you were spending, CLG was not in any shape form or fashion were we then or ever taking half.  Not possible there is an all fees are always disclosed before as well as during the recording and again with the legal assistants.  Research a program before you place blame for your neglegence on a law firm please.

      Please,talking about bogus!  Your company took money from my elderly mom explaining that her debts would be negotiated down and paid off.  Not only were the credit card companies not paid, they were never even contacted!  You guys take money up front before services are even rendered, you also take a monthly fee from my moms payment from her checking account.  what exactly are you being paid for?  Your ability to scam financially distressed people?!  Before anyone decides to use this company, do your research.  I wish my mom would have told me before she signed up on her own with this company.

    I started doing business with this consumer law group. They didn't do anything for me except take my money. I faxed them a letter to cancel the agreement I made with them and they still kept taking money out of my checking account. They are frauds and need to be reported. Now I will close my checking account to stop them from taking my money.
