We received our third invoice in as many months for yet another company claiming that we had signed up for their online listing.  This company is a new name but the website is the same picture, etc.  It's a total scam.  They invoiced us for $479.95.  When contacted by their "legal" department for our unpaid invoice they played back the call that our secretary answered.  All they asked was for her to confirm our shipping and mailing addresses that they needed to send the invoice to.  Never asking if we wanted such service or describing in the call what the invoice was for.

I have now been harassed by 4  persistent callers, all claiming that I signed up for online directory services, and all willing to play the tape of my "verbal contract."  It's me on the tape, alright.  The same tape on all 4 companies, confirming my address, etc.  But nothing on the tape indicates I've committed to purchase anything.  The first one, from Florida, I paid just to get the off my back.  The last three have not, and will not be paid.  They are United States Business Pages in Las Vegas, NV; YP Business Info in Boston, MA; and Effective Engine Search in Kissimmee, FL.  Beware!!!

Just got a call from Effective Engine Search last week. I told the person off. Got another call today from their "legal department", claiming I had agreed to purchase their service with a credit card when they sent me the invoice...Legal Schmegal. Why would anyone pay a paper invoice with a credit card. Why not just pay it over the phone.  They did not have my credit card number on file, yet every other over the phone agreement involves use of a credit card over the phone.  I verified my address and name, and then the rest of my replies on their recording are muffled and bearly audible. Baloney,  as stated in the reply below. They are Effective Engine Search in Kissimmee, FL.  Beware!!!

I recently received an invoice from YP Business Info in the amount of $689.55, it is addressed to my father’s company with attention to my mother (whose name is spelled wrong) AND has the wrong zip code.  After speaking with the rude foreign lady who contacted me I asked her who agreed to the online advertising, she states I did, daughter of the owner.  When I asked her to let me hear the recording she then plays only part of a recording where a guy is verifying the mailing address he never asked if we wanted such service or describing in the call that there would be an invoice. She didn’t bother to play the part where I give him a few choice words and told him not to send me a thing that we were not interested!  This is the 2nd time this has happened to my parents in the last 6 months.  I do not understand why something is not getting done about people like this.  The other scam we encountered we now get letters from a collection agent as I am sure this is going against my Fathers credit.  I am in the process of filing a complaint with the BBB in MA (although they are not a member of and have an “F” rating) and the MA Attorney General.  However I am concerned about what is actually being done with these complaints.

I am the accountant for this small business. I received a call from a woman Karen from Business Info Source.  She said that we were late for this invoice and they were starting to charge us interest now.  She has spoke to our owner and he has directed her to speak to our accounting department to handle the payment.  I said I have never received such invoice.  Then she asked for my email account and emailed me the invoice again.  It's about online advertising and listing.  Because we recently open a new store, I assume the owner has talked to her and asked for service.  So, I stupidly gave her our debit card information and instructed the payment!  Then, I wrote email to the owner informing him about this payment.  He replied, "I have never spoken to her! ... Please stop payment"!  When I called back to the company, they never picked up the phone again.  It's a scam a fraudulent company.  Then, we called our banker to dispute the charge now...

I have recieved an invoice from Yp Business Info in the amount of $689.55 for online  advertisement that I did not sign up for. I have also recieved phone calls from them stating that I owe them money.  I know this is a scam but there is little I can do about it.  I can't change my address or my Business phone number.  so I just let them call and wait for their next move.  If anyone know a better way of dealing with this, please share that info with me.  I didn.t realise there were so many people in the same situation.

I received a call from Business Info Source claiming that we owe them ~$600 for online advertising service purchased by my wife. Based on what I've seen here, It's very similar to another common scam with overpriced till papers which we also had experience dealing with. Basically you just have ignore their calls and empty threats (legal, collection, one even claimed they'll send a bailiff to seize my assets - all talk no action). It's annoying but in reality they can't really do anything.

Our company just received a letter saying we owed 739.00. Supposedly we were recorded as well. Thank heavens they did not have an address on the bill so I could see all of these complaints. To say the least-what a way to do business. We are not paying.

We also received one invoice about $689.55 for one year online advertisement from this company. I told them I don't know what service they are providing and I will not pay for this invoice. They mailed me a letter that the audio recording is the proof that I agreed to pay for this service. I will not take the call from them anymore.

What ended up happening?? I got the same court threat today.  I called back the number, as they left a voicemail, and there was no reply.

I am a business owner.  I do not and will not authorize anyone to do advertising on the phone under no circumstances!! This business is nothing more than a scam.  They sent me an invoice for $689.55 for 1 year on line advertising. This will be handed over to an attorney if they do not omit this invoice.  Watch out for these people!!!!!

This scam is laughable. Today I get a call from a blocked phone number and a few minutes later from a number in Quebec. My voicemail explicitly states that I will not answer calls from blocked numbers. I did not answer the second call... I have received calls exactly like this from Quebec previously (from a company using a different name... Global Wide Data). Anyway, they left a voicemail and it was Karen from Business Info Source... They tried to process a payment on a credit card I had stupidly given to Global Wide Data for this scam and then promptly cancelled after calling the bank to stop payment. Go figure, the bank declined to process the payment on the cancelled card. Now they want me to call... this is laughable. Anyway, they want $679, the same dollar amount Global Wide Data wanted. I could go on, but my what I really want to get across is a) yes it is a scam and  b) Business Info Source = Global Wide Data = YP Business. They are all the same thing, they are all committing fraud in an attempt the steal money.

I am having the same problem as everyone else. They keep calling saying I confirmed this advertising a year ago over the phone.  They only bill once a year and I owe them $689.55.  I told them I never had a call from them that I can remember and I do not owe them any money.  I have no paperwork from them prior to this phone call, never hear of them.  I said I wanted it in writing that I ordered this advertising.  About a week and a half later a different person phones with the same story.  I told her I asked to have this in writing, like I told the last person who phoned.    So today I receive an invoice in the mail,  no P.O. Box number and the wrong street address but the correct business name.  It just is a bill for advertising for 1 year but it do not have when it started or ends or how it is advertised, just says online advertising.  Total scam!!!  I am taking it to the RCMP.  (This is a Canadian business).

Got 2 calls from a Gloria saying have an overdue invoice for services from Business Info Source. When I said we have no accounts with them they said will play back audio recordings saying we verified their services. When I asked what services they provide they said online listing support etc.. We have had countless calls of people asking to verify our adresss but did not sign up/ ok and account. Said will mark our file as a dispute because we won’t pay! I said we aren’t paying for service we didn’t ask for. Yikes - beware of verifying anything on the phone I guess..

my Father in law had dementia and when we had power of attorney on him we were getting calls from Gloria at info source. I thought she was being honest as my father in law had a business and at the time she played a recording of him saying yes to whatever it was she claimed to sell. Plus I never thought anyone would stoop so low as taking advantage of a senior with dementia. I gave her my credit card number and paid. What a mistake. A year later she called trying to scam saying my husband agreed to buying her advertising. I let her have it. She is a scammer. I told her what a low life piece of garbage she is and she wasn’t getting a dime. Don’t fall for this scam. They try talking to you and try to get you to say yes, then they manipulate the recording so it sounds like you said yes to their advertising. It’s a scam!!!
