They are a bunch of criminals calling from overseas, probably India, probably via VoIP because it's cheap, and trying to scam and extort money out of Americans for phony "payday loans".  They may even have information like old account numbers, SSN, DOB, relatives or employers, possibly from pulling credit reports or through skip-trace searches, or sometimes phony on-line payday loan sites, but the alleged debts are entirely phony, or if real, not owed to these crooks.

    They are liars.

File a complaint with the FBI, and if they keep calling, record them and tell them the call is being recorded as evidence.  If they have any brains, they will move on when they know you won't be conned.

Warning from the Illinois Attorney General:

Warn your friends and co-workers about this scam, so that they don't get conned.

Numerous consumer complaints, and warnings from state AGs, FBI, and BBB paint the same picture.

They are criminals running a fake debt extortion racket, probably from India, making illegal threats, and you are being conned.

How are you sending them money?

I have received probably 10 phone calls in the last month saying I owe money for a payday loan and if I don't pay today I'll be sued.  They are RUDE, they threaten me and say that they are going to "make an example of me to others" by having me arrested and sued for not paying back a payday loan.  The only problem is that they can not provide any proof I owe anything. I continually ask for documentation proving I owe any money and they say they don't have to provide it to me. They say that the fact they have my information is proof enough!  AND THEY ARE ALWAYS FORGEIN AND I CAN'T HARDLY UNDERSTAND THEM.  I did however understand them when I asked what lawfirm they were with and they said ACLS. One time they said they were calling for Pay Day One, then another time it was Advance Cash America and this last time it was Cash Advance USA.  All I ask for is proof of the loan they say I owe and they refuse to give it.  HOW IN THE CRAP DO I STOP THEM FROM CALLING ME!!!!!  JERKS
