G.H. small business owner
Country: United States
I am sole owner of my company and the only one to authorize any advertising. I receive a past due notice to our working address ( all my billing is designated to go to a PO BOX ) for the amount of $599.99 with an additional 27.40 interest charges. When I called to let the company know that I have not ordered nor authorized any advertisement as a matter of fact I CUT advertising at the end of last year with At&T real yellow pages, the operator stated I must talk to collections. I said transfer me and she said no one was available to take my call. I said I will hold and she said we will have to call you back. This has SCAM written all over it!!!!!!!!!! Beware.....

Same thing - same amount - same freaking interest charges.  I can't believe these people.  We'll see what the FTC or State Attorney General's office does.  I filed complaint with BBB and they contacted company.  Company responded within 24 saying complaint was invalid because they have their previous phone recording of me agreeing to their charges.  Well - of course that is what was recorded - following 45 minutes of frustrating conversation.  I thought I was going to be able to cancel or something like that - it was a nightmare conversation.  I'll NEVER get sucked up again like that.

Yes.  $599.99 plus interest charges for a total of Same exact thing.  Said they would give me a discount of $50 and wipe out the interest charges if I paid right away.  I declined.

I got the exact same thing.  $599 charge + 27.40 in interest charges.  They did have a phone recording of me agreeing to the charges and everything, but it was only a couple of months ago that the recording was supposedly created.  There is no way I would've agreed to that because I've been flat broke for the past 10 months, living paycheck to paycheck and the business being advertised has been out of business for 5 years!  I'm sure the phone recording was doctored because the fax number I gave on the recording hasn't been used for over 3 years!

Total scam.  They contacted our office and said that they had been contacted by someone in our office to cancel the account and would I verify the mailing address.  From that point on, they recorded the conversation.  They called today and said they were from a collection agency.  I told them we did not have a contract with Yellow Pages Public.  They played back the recording of me verifying the address and they claim that by me verifying the address that gave them contract approval!  When I told the woman they did have the beginning of the conversation recorded, she denied that.  Then she admitted she was an employeee of Public Yellow Pages and I was not therefore, I did not know what I was talking about.  She was very belligernet with me and I ended the phone conversation.  We have 2 employees in our office and neither one has approved a contract with Yellow Pages Public.  We will not be paying the $599.99.
