If they are debt collectors, and they are collecting on a debt you owe, they can call you even at work until you notify them that you are not allowed to receive their calls at work.

If they are the original creditor (lender) they would not be covered by the above FDCPA requirements, but you might have other state law that might allow you to place restrictions on harassing calls.

Notify them when they call, and send them a follow-up letter confirming, sent certified return receipt requested.

tj is correct. You need to send them a request in writing asking to stop calls. By law collectors must stop calls to your work once you tell them that your boss does not approve such calls.

If you also don't want to receive calls from them at home, include this as well. They must obey your wish to handle this matter via mail.

If you feel you are being harassed you can look up the guidelines in the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.  Collection companies are supposed to follow a number of policies but I don't think many of them do.  If you feel they are violating the FDCPA you should contact the Federal Trade Commission and the Attorney General in your state and/or file a lawsuit.

if you don't feel like writing them a letter you can tell them it is an inconvenient time to call.  per the fdcpa a collection may not call you when you tell them it is an inconvenient time and does not require a cease and desist letter, which works more thoroughly if including home phone calls
