Fan not working

Everything I have read online leads me to believe my remote control is no longer paired with my ceiling fan. I believe this is only the 2nd warm season I have used this fan. I've tried several times to pair the remote control with the fan with no luck. I've now been googling and have found there are many different problems with this fan and customer are very dissatisfied. I wish I would have read reviews before purchasing this fan. I have a different ceiling fan in another room and have never had a problem with it. This particular fan is now about 12 years old if not older. Can anything be done about my non working Hampton Bay Altura ceiling fan purchased from Home Depot?
