downgraded membership without telling me

They downgraded my membership benefits without telling me and without reducing my monthly fees. When I found out (accidentally!) and asked to speak to the manager, he said I should have realized that I wasn't receiving the benefits I'd been paying for, so it was MY FAULT. He later admitted that no one had contacted me and I'd had no way of knowing that anything had changed. The staff at the front desk and the personal trainer were both nasty, telling me that if I wanted to find out what happened to my benefits, I would have to wait until they finished signing up new members. He also announced, loudly, that he would be happy to cancel my membership. I was appalled. I had been a member for a solid year--I worked out 3-4 days per week--and never had a single problem. In fact, I'd raved about it to several friends who joined as a result of my recommendation! I couldn't even believe these people were treating me this way. It was surreal. I asked to have the manager, Matt, call me. He never did. When I finally got him on the phone, he literally wouldn't stop talking long enough for me to say a complete sentence. He kept raising his voice and talking over me, saying that his staff did nothing wrong. It was like he had been told to use that "talking point" with customers who found out that he'd removed their member benefits without reducing their monthly fees or even having the decency to tell them! This is a classic "bait and switch" scam. I wouldn't be surprised if LA Fitness Downingtown PA gets hit with a class action lawsuit.
