I HAD DISH NETWORK INSTALLED IN MY HOME AFTER ABOUT NINE MONTHS THE SIGNAL KEPT GETTING LOST IN THE HEAT OF THE DAY. I CALLED DISH AND THEY WERE READING FROM A SCRIPT AS I COULD TELL BECAUSE I WOULD INTERRUPT AND THEY WOULD HAVE TROUBLE PICKING UP WHERE THEY LEFT OFF. ANYWAY I TOLD THEM THAT WHEN I PUT WATER ON THE DISH TO COOL IT THE PICTURE COMES BACK ON. THEY TOLD ME I SHOULD NEVER PUT WATER ON THE DISH. I SAID WHAT ABOUT WHEN IT RAINS? THEY SENT A SERVICE TECH OUT AND HE REPLAED THE LNB WORKED GREAT FOR ABOUT A MONTH. THE SIGNAL STARTING GOING OUT AGAIN ON 1 TELEVISION SO I CALLED DISH AND THEY TOLD ME FROM A SCRIPT THAT I HAD A BAD CONNECTION. AFTER SECURING ALL CONNECTIONS WITH NO CHANGE I CALLED THEM BACK THEY KEPT TELLING ME I HAD A BAD CONNECTION. THE PERSON WITH WHOM I SPOKE HARDLY SPOKE ENGLISH I BELIEVE THEY MUST HAVE A CALL CENTER IN INDIA. AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM THEY WERE NO HELP I TOLD THEM TO CANCEL MY SERVICE. THEY SENT OUT BOXES FOR ME TO PACK UP THE EQUIPMENT AND RETURN IT TO THEM. A DAY AFTER THE BOXES ARRIVE I GET A COLLECTION CALL FOR 800.00 FROM DISH! I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT I JUST RECEIVED THE BOXES AND WOULD BE RETURNING THE PRODUCTS. THEY SAID AFTER THEY RECEIVE THEM THEY WILL CREDIT THE ACCOUNT. I SHIPPED THEM BACK AND THEN RECEIVED A CALL FROM A COLLECTION AGENCY SAYING I OWED 275.00 FOR A BILL AND EARLY TERMINATION. AFTER WRITING A LETTER TO THE BBB I RECEIVED A CALL FROM DISH (SOMEONE WHO I COULD UNDERSTAND) SHE TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE REVERSING THE CHARGES AND CLOSING THE ACCOUNT. WHAT A NIGHTMARE NEVER AGAIN. I HAVE SWITCHED TO DIRECTV AND HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH THEM

    Thanks so much for this post. I have been looking into Satellite service. Two points stick out. Outsourcing to India and poor service.

    My experience is somewhat different.  The worst decision I've made in 10 years is to select the DISH service.  I was lied to by the marketing person who signed me up.  I was told that I would get rebates and given web sites to get forms (one for Showtime and one for DISH).  I didn't even order Showtime but was told to 'send in the rebate request' immediately and then the form revealed that this was not even possible.  A call back to the marketing person could not find that person.???   The charges to my credit card were $49.95 and $79.95 before I even had the service for one month and after a call to DISH, no one in the USA or India could explain why.  The service is a nightmare to manipulate and ends up in extended periods of time dialing for 'who knows what' when a wrong button is hit and there is no way to exit.  Does DISH know any system programers?  If I could, I'd buy my way out of this disaster and return to Comcast.  End.
