I have a chase freedom card and have it for many years. Never been late, no issues. There are  instructions on the account to never let it go over credit limit .

They allowed it to go over limit even though there are instructions to not let it go over.
They they closed my account.

I called then and they have no explanation except that it went over the limit BUT they allowed it.

They even ate my rewards points.

They have become too confident that they can mistreat even their good customers for no reason. They think they are too big too fail.

I will never do any business with them in future. I have been cheated and lied to and I am really angry.

They may have closed the account due to a credit review.

Ask them for an Adverse Action Notice.  They are required to send you the reason for this "denial of credit" IN WRITING, according to federal law.

If they send you an Adverse Action Notice it would tell you which credit report they pulled, so you can check it for errors.  If, like here, you were "denied credit" because of information on a credit report, you can request a credit report from that CRA, and they have to provide it for free.

As for rewards point, never let them pile up.  Always cash them as quickly as possible, for just this reason.  Take them as cash to your bank account, or credit them to your credit card account, whatever.

I have been with chase for a long time and paid off my house through their bank loan.
Last year around October, I received a notice that they would close my credit card account by Dec. 2012, because I was not using it. I called them to inquire why and they told me it's a new policy but if I would start using my card they won't close it. So I started using it. I was waiting for the new credit card to arrive.
Since it's already Jan.10, 2013, I gave them a call and all they can say is that their record shows it is close and I would just have to pay for the existing balance, but  the account id close.  They said they would try to re-open it but I have go to the process again of providing them updated information, etc. etc. etc. etc.........
They suck and don't know how to take care of 25 year clients with no bad credit history and credit score is always 750+. Well bad for them if don't want my business, I don't want their business.
