Had washer for less than 3 years, bang there goes the transmission. Told by Maytag that they show no reported problems with this machine. Now it looks like I was not the only one to get a lemon, I too brought Maytag because of their reliability, I will not buy another it is inexcusable for a machine to only last that long before having a catastrophic breakdown and then get an o - well from Maytag.

WE purchased this washer in 2013 and it has been tearing clothing, especially fine fabrics, ever since.  This is irrespective of setting used.  We have also experienced the poor washing, which is not that unusual for so-called "high-efficiency" washers.  Apparently Maytag has responded to the complaint about low water levels by making the new models with doors (or lids, as you might call them on top-loaders) that lock shut until the cycle is over!  That way you cannot see the water level.  I guess the laugh is on us.
